Or breathe the air.

55555. When I saw the headline, I thought it must have been written on the first day of April.

Wow. If nothing else given the road deaths I'm curious how arrived at this conclusion. Not number 10 mind you but number one lol

The only question here is how many 😂 will this article generate?

April fools has long since passed

I would tend to agree as long as you keep your nose clean and stay away from Pattaya. The biggest danger here is on the highways, crossing the street, breaking your ankle on a decrepit sidewalk, getting electrocuted by hanging wires, hitting your head on a low hanging sign, and other such public hazards.

I'm infinitely more worried about getting robbed, assaulted, or murdered in Los Angeles and most other large American cities, than I am here. Thailand it's quite safe for most tourists and expats, as long as you're sensible, and keep your wits about you, and drive very, very carefully.

The hyperbole in that article almost makes me want to vomit.

Small unknown UK agency gets paid to say Thailand worlds safest holiday destination... There, I fixed it for you.

Kyiv with a free hard hat on arrival.

Oh, what a BS!

Of course, Thailand is a safer tourist destination than the Philippines or Nigeria, for instance.

But it is far from being safe. What do you think?

Same the blogger Dan about Thailand.Totally BS from him also.I see some of his posting on FB.

What a big liar try to lure people to come to Thailand..and i guess get paid by TAT.

Yes, but is Pattaya included on the list? Seems like the first day for a long time where Pattaya has not hit the headlines of AN for the wrong reasons!

hmmm… if it’s so safe why are we constantly informed about violent assaults  and murders in Thailand, it simply doesn’t make sense. Certainly the appalling  road death toll , alone , makes this claim a nonsense.

TBH

If the tourist has a way to avoid all means of roads and transport including tour buses and all boats. Only on public transport. Stays off Bangkok footpaths. Stays out of Pattaya and Phuket (and probably BKK) red zones. Stays well away from prostitutes, drugs, Africans and soi dogs and traditional Thai scammers. Thailand is very safe.

Having said that and only anecdotally the above has probably always been true, but things just seem all the more dangerous and desperate these days. More crime, more dangerous news worthy crazy sh it

I recall living in Pattaya 15-20 years ago. A farang a week died some dubious death. Now, I'm of the belief that one a day dies of something in the whole of Thailand. Natural and unnatural causes.

That's hundreds of foreigners dead a year

Chinese should work on their call centre skills before coming though.

Judging from the OP photograph, the hub of hair transplants elixir extends to marine rock formations.

Thailand has claimed the title of the safest holiday destination in the world, according to a recent analysis by Travelbag, a UK-based long-haul travel specialist. This accolade is based on detailed data from Numbeo, an extensive user-contributed database providing insights on cities and countries globally.

Thailand emerged as a leader in safety, surpassing popular destinations like Seychelles, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam. Its blend of high safety scores and renowned warm hospitality contributed significantly to its top ranking.

Travelbag’s report shines a light on Thailand’s myriad attractions, including its breathtaking landscapes and enriching cultural experiences. The nation boasts a "safety walking at night" score of 61.53, the highest among the top five ranked countries.

Visitors, therefore, enjoy peace of mind while exploring Thailand’s vibrant streets and scenic locales, even after dark. This enhanced sense of security complements the country's already appealing features, such as its bustling night markets and tranquil island getaways.

The report underlines that Thailand's allure is not just superficial. Its well-developed tourism infrastructure plays a crucial role in its safety ranking. Modern amenities are easily accessible in major cities, while the local culture emphasises community and hospitality, writes Gregers Møller for ScandAsia.

Travellers can confidently navigate the buzzing streets, island-hop in the crystal-clear waters, or embark on adventurous jungle treks, knowing that they are in safe hands.

In a broader regional context, Numbeo's 2025 data highlights that Chiang Mai is now the safest city in ASEAN, boasting an impressive safety index score of 78.2.

This northern city, known for its rich history and cultural sites, offers a secure environment for tourists and residents alike. Other Thai cities, such as Bangkok and Pattaya, also featured in the region's top ten safest cities, reinforcing Thailand’s comprehensive commitment to safety across its urban centres.

Singapore, while traditionally strong in national safety rankings, finds its regional dominance challenged by Thailand's performance in multiple cities.

Thailand's ability to provide safe environments in different locales makes it particularly attractive for globetrotters aiming to explore various spots within a single trip. This multi-city appeal adds another layer to its already strong tourism proposition.

For thousands of Nordic tourists and expatriates who annually flock to Thailand, the latest safety rankings come as no surprise. Their experiences resonate with the findings, demonstrating that Thailand is not merely an exciting destination but a secure one as well.

Whether wandering alone through Chiang Mai’s ancient streets, navigating Bangkok’s efficient public transport, or unwinding on Krabi’s serene beaches, visitors consistently encounter a blend of friendliness, community awareness, and robust infrastructure.

Thailand’s recognition as the safest holiday spot globally serves as a testament to its ongoing efforts to provide travellers with both unforgettable adventures and the tranquillity of knowing they are safe.

These latest accolades bolster its status as a must-visit location, particularly for those valuing both thrill and peace. With its lush landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and top-ranked safety,

Very safe actually for your health. The most dirty air in the world in CM and BKK.

Who bribed the Brits and how much?😂

A few years back I saw statistics from Australia and I think UK too, that more of their citizens died in Thailand than any other country in the world outside their home countries. I suspect the same stats apply to many other country's citizens as well but haven't seen those stats. So were talking traffic and motorcycle accidents, accidental deaths from drink/drugs, plus deaths from assults and murders, and just plain bad luck accidents like falling off balconies and waterfalls. Of course Thailand and the Thais cannot be blamed directly for many of these foreigners' deaths, nonetheless it still doesn't change the fact that Thailand has a very high death rate for tourists and foreigners.

That's proof that there is a mix of fact and fiction on this site

Bullship.

In HCMC you just saunter into the traffic and they weave around you like fishes.

Easy.

Rubbish, the sheer volume of motorbikes alone makes it more difficult.

Ahhhh have they ever been to Thailand.

NO 🤷🏼

well if the deaths of 2 to 3 Brits a day (not counting other nationalities) is the worlds safest I despair. The publisher’s Travelbag were  an Australian discount bucket shop when I lived in The UK. Can’t find them in any r3commended trav3l agents list though today. Maybe TaT bought them out!!!
