Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra arrived at Phitsanulok Mansion early morning on 11 July, to join high-level discussions with “Team Thailand” and policy advisers to the Prime Minister.

The urgent meeting was convened in response to a recent announcement by US President Donald Trump regarding new import tariffs, which include a steep 36% levy on Thai goods.

The meeting, held at the official residence in the heart of the capital, began forming from 07:00 as key ministers and advisers gathered to craft a strategic national response. Among the first to arrive were Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira, Commerce Minister Jatuporn Buruspat and Phan Sak Winyarat, Chief Policy Adviser to the Prime Minister. Also in attendance was Jakrapob Penkair, former spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office.

Thaksin, whose role in Thai politics has resurged in recent months despite his past exile, arrived at 07:47. The session aimed to assess economic ramifications and potential retaliatory strategies in light of the US administration’s protectionist shift.

The new 36% tariff, revealed in a letter signed by President Trump and widely circulated through diplomatic channels and the media, has sparked concern across Thailand’s export sectors, particularly manufacturing and agriculture.

The meeting was held behind closed doors and no official statement has yet been released. However, insiders suggest that discussions focused on mitigating economic fallout, exploring trade diversification and leveraging ASEAN partnerships.

Bad idea to sell any of these countries jets used by Nato , as likely they/information will be passed on for reverse engineering to Beijing to gain favour. Luckily for the UK that India and Beijing hate eachother, otherwise its recently stranded F-35B that got stuck at an Indian airport would be a disaster waiting to happen... even though, wonder if anyone tried to get a good look at it, even the Indians.

And here I thought Tony was here to spend his elderly days enjoying the company of his grandchildren.  The kids must be pretty boring.

Everything is good if the 36% tariffs can be reduced.

Even if this dazzling colourful old criminal influential man is part of.

Negotiations to follow, more or less interminably. Plenty of room for Thailand to negotiate on reducing its assorted 'taxes' (however designated) on practically all imports.

Should test the collective brain cells adequately.

Thaksin has the good of the country at heart! Better him than the likes of Anutin and most of the other clowns that masquerade as leaders but are mostly their for their own personal gain!!

Is he running the country?  Who is in charge in Thailand?  I have an idea who leads Cambodia, Laos, Burma and Vietnam, but cannot get my head around who is in charge over here.

Get him out of these meetings immediately, the man is toxic beyond belief, he's no longer needed nor wanted, his family is now despised, and any political party that engages in any association with the man is bound to fail at this point.
