A quick weekend trip to Nong Kai.

Because my 1 year extension is due in September and my passport runs out during the extension I got a new passport.

Being oldish I wasn't thinking about the hotel I booked into letting immigration know, so ended up my KBank app. has been cancelled.

Now I use my app to scan and pay for my EV charging which I now can't do.

The bank says it will take 3 days to unblock my app.

Hopefully the EV charger has a tap-and-pay or ..... maybe I can use my Aussie credit card to pay for the charge.

Bit stuck for answers at the moment, so will go the BYD (hopefully they have one here) to charge the car and see what happens.

Don't get old and have a tiff with SWMBO. 🙂

Two threads in one.

Did I get it right?

You have a new passport and that was not registered at immigration and the bank yet?

Very interesting that the hotel's registration at immigration goes through to the bank? Fully networked??

I get a new passport till end of August. Sounds like first rush to immigration and then to the banks?

Can't help about EV charging.

Only problem is the EV charging, hopefully BYD is open here on Sunday and if all else fails I can probably con BYD into charging the car and give them some money.

You would think there must be more than 1 way of paying for a charge.

I can fix the other up at the bank on Monday.

KBank emergency phone number said take my internet provider paper and my 2 passports to the bank and they will register my phone number with the new passport.

Only the app has been blocked, evidently KBank card still works.

Home is 241 km away, BYD app battery says a range of 242 km, so should I chance it?   Yeah.....Nu.

Worst case I can get Wifey to drive to Kalasin BYD with her KBank card and meet her there.

don’t take the risk … for example, just drive to a PEA charging station, and you or your wife can easily top up the wallet for charging ...

Went to BYD to use their charger but no charger at BYD.

Decided to drive towards Yang Talat to met wifey and stop at PTT to charge.

First station broken, next station plugged in an EV charger came up with alarm and wouldn't let me pull the cable out, so with the great help from the 7/11 manager and contact with EV charger phone number reset a couple of breakers in the cabinet, that kept tripping, but now charging.

So hopefully I can swipe my KBank card or pay later to get the cable out.

Wifey thinks you have to pay first to get the cable out. Will see.

Usually not a problem, drive slow and you will have power left over when you get home.

I tried it in an EV,driving slower and accelerating slower gave me and extra 108 km.

This was starting with a full charge.

Hello. Yes was driving slowly, aircon off, windows open, music off and feet of the floor ( to lower the weight) and the kms were getting better all the time, until I found a working charger.

Twas interesting that BYD God kept closing the windows.

All good, charged OK Pay later.

Sometime before when I received the car I must have set up EV PTT charger with my bank so the charge was paid for when the charge finished, therefore I didn't really need the bank app.

Also when I was working with the 7/11 lady sometime the ringing the EV charger help number was answered and sometimes not.

So what have you learned from this episode?

1. How I love my Ev.

2. Great people at 7/12.

3. Don't take strong back painkillers with 3000 beers.

4. EV charging cabinets are not locked and you can just reach inside and reset tripped breakers.

5. If you ring the EV problem line and they don't answer, just keep ringing and they will.

6. If someone presses the EV charger big red STOP button it opens the main breaker in the cabinet, so it must/should reset after a time period or else the cabinet is off-line.

7. To trouble shoot inside the EV cabinet use your phone camera in conversation with the Help Desk (they also speak English.

I was advised by some on here to just carry both old and new passports with me when I renewed mine.  I just chose to go to immigration, bank(s) and DMV  and have passport details updated. Both my car and motorbike licences were also replaced with updated passport number.

Although time consuming, it all went smoothly I thought, until when re-entering the country I was detained for an hour because my local Immigration Office had omitted writing the original visa number in the new passport. I was finally let through, but told to revisit immigration to get it rectified.

So check everything.

Not sure if necessary, but other places that might want updated passport details are any hospitals used, and accountants or companies you might have.

I think the real lesson here is register and test the charging apps you might need well before a long journey.

Plug'n'Charge takes all the hassle out of charging, this means you plug in and it starts charging automatically, you get 24 hours to pay your bill afterwards, available at Reversharger (eg BYD) and PTT, maybe others but I haven't tried.

Everything was working until I booked into the hotel Friday arvo. That's when the hotel must have informed immigration about The Farang staying there and they then must have informed the bank to disable my bank app.

I don't know how disabling a bank app is going to effect criminals. I can still use the bank card.

On my way to sort it out at the bank today I will try and withdraw some money with the card.

Can't believe that a Hotel Stay and TM30 Report to Immigration is the reason, all Banks been closed during long weekend. Sounds to me more that your names of SIM Card registration and Name of Bank Account doesn't fit and your Online Banking was blocked for this reason like for many other people at the moment as missed the deadline.

No. Registered a while ago. Rang the bank and they said my phone number was not registered with my new passport. Come to the bank with passports and phone number docs from the provider. 🙂

I remember the registration because my phone number was in my wife's name as I usually only carry my Thai ID and they wanted my passport so they registered it in my wife's name.

The bank sent a message (this is when the new rule came in) and said would have to change the name to my name, so done and dusted long ago.

No, I think his original registration with the privider doesn't match with the registration when he was first time in the bank. Another thing, maybe different phone numbers.

U OK?

Same phone number, new passport, that is the problem.

The bank hotling I contacted on Saturday had me confirm my phone number and to register it with my new passport.

Today registered by phone number with my new passport.

1. Got together: new passport, old passport, pink Falang ID card, bankbook and phone.

2. Go to mobile phone provider where they installed a new SIM card (same phone number) and linked my new passport to my phone number, then got a copy of a bill showing the new passport number and phone number.

3. To the bank and signed about 10 copies of various forms and a few self photos. (As is a small branch, took about 2 hours to tie everything together. Main problem was the pink ID card.) Also gave them the copy of bill showing new passport number and phone number.

Bank issued a new bankbook.

4. Wait 3 days before I can use the bank app.

unfortunately, bureaucracy has become even more ridiculous in recent years ... i used to think it couldn't get any worse, but i was wrong. the idea of making things simpler, more efficient, or easier for people just doesn't exist here ...

knowing that the locals also have to deal with the same mess doesn’t help much either. as a foreigner, there’s only one way to deal with it: stay quiet, keep your head down, and just do what they are  asking for …  TIT ...

My bank ATM card is frozen as well, can't withdraw money as well as app not working.

I used to only get 5 year passport extensions because long ago Imm used to get upset with too many stamps in the book, so this time got a 10 year passport and Aus embassy said get a 5 yr one as you're old already. 555

Nothing to do with EV, but my KBank app stopped last week. Turned out my ID for my sim card and my bank account were different. Managed to clear it up, which involved opening anew account, Friday but they said a week for my app to be unlocked. Worked yesterday so 3 working days.
