I'm not sure what being an ex officer has to do with any of this. I suppose one would hope that the Armed Forces might have been instilled within him him a sense of personal discipline, but that might be too much to ask.

It looks as if the guy was threatening to take a video and that's when the security guards reacted the way they did?

Any guy who can't handle rejection from a bar girl is a major clown, and an absolute fool, with paper thin skin, which makes him even more pathetic.

From the top down there are a lot of Americans these days that are not exactly doing America proud.

Yeah, but this moron is a Brit.....55555.

Don't defend these fake teachers in Thailand.

Drinkers.

Getting in fights.

Last month there was a story of a kid drinking and driving.  another fake teacher.

They are super creepy people.

Some without degrees

Many broke

Almost all have no clue about how to teach.

Back in 2015 when a fake teacher told me he liked them young, paid to get them young, drank, loved to drink and drive, got high, and about 10 of his fake "teachers" all seemed at home......well, that was enough for me.

Anyone can do that fake job.

This is just one more example of the morals these clowns have.

It just feels dirty thinking about those scum.

I will troll them and their fanboys and defenders forever.

As for being a former soldier what on earth does that have to do with anything.

Exactly.  Some ex-soldiers think that they are special because of their choice to enter the armed forces and that they, therefore, deserve unquestioned respect..."I'm a vet!".

Well Quentin Zen is one of or possibly the dumbest poster on here. 🤷🏼

Pointed out in the third post on this thread, but I thought more Geordie than Brummy.

And why does his Thai have a Brummy accent? :coffee1:

Maybe he is from the city of Birmingham in Alabama ?

One of the most notable aspects of life in the nightspots in Bangkok in the 1960s and 1970s was the polite behaviour of the American GIs on furlough from Vietnam. Very different from this guy who alleges to be an ex-soldier from the USA.

I don't know how many times I have to say this.... Foreign language teachers are almost ALWAYS up to no good.   This one appears TYPICAL.  Drinker, goes after women in a bar, gets in a fight......

How anyone could pay money to let these criminals spend time with their kids is beyond me.

Soon the International fanboys will come out and say that's not possible there......oh it is.

"Former U.S. soldier" is the headline.

😉

Update, he is a Brit, not American.

He may be, but is the "update" based on anything other than your analysis of his accent whilst shouting in Thai whilst drunk, taken from a mobile phone video.

So you label them all, due to the actions of one..,mmmm, using your logic, if 1 yank kills someone, all yanks are killers...do you see something wrong with your logic.

There were a couple of sentences in English with a quite noticeable northern accent.

He is from UK...most likely Birmingham with that accent...but, I could be wrong, but he is not an American....

I was wondering about his British regional accent which sounded Yorkshire to me.

No he was a Brit.

A few Brits tell the girls they're Yanks because they think it impresses them! God knows why!

Correct; sounded a bit Yorkshire to me.

At the risk of sounding like an a**hole: if you're a language teacher at age 65 you've done something very wrong with your life. At 65 you should be retired after a good career, not barely surviving doing a job that kids in their 20's are doing as a means to hacking travel on a budget. Impressive takedown by the security guys though: no bs, no kicks to the head, just subdue and done.

Perhaps a little bit of kicking would be in order though.

I've met dozens if not hundreds of language teachers in Thailand and Japan. I'd say about 95% were total losers with no prospects in life beyond merely surviving. Many dumb as a brick. A few decent folks for sure- but those were the exception and actually were able to teach and worked in proper schools/unis. Stereotypes don't come out of a vacuum - there is a reason they are there.

I know several foreign language teachers in Thailand, and they’re all decent people just trying to make a living; a few are in monogamous relationships with Thai women who are not bargirls. Unfortunately, foreign language teachers are also Homo sapiens, and as such some of them will be out of whack.

You can say it as many times as you like, and the more you say it, the more you’ll come off as a paranoid with a fixation (did a foreign language teacher abuse you when you were a child?).

I've heard more assumptions an exaggerations on this forum than when I was a teenager. When someone says hundreds, they really mean a few, exaggerating to try and prove a point. I've known hundreds of teachers in my life but not too many personally, and none that I knew about their personal lives.
