Renewed faith.

My wife and I went to our local bank to renew our bank cards. We paid the renewal fee. Later, my wife received a call from the teller saying she had made a mistake and overcharged us for the transaction. She then asked what account we wanted it credited to. No, she didn't ask for account numbers. If she had I would have been on the alert. But how refreshing that someone admits to making a mistake. I've found that quite rare here. Renewed faith in human nature.

???? I left my wallet on a seat outside of Cj Express one time. There's a bloke that has a BBQ chicken stall just in front. When I realised I had left my wallet where I was sitting having a beer I went back. The bloke that does the chicken handed my wallet to me.

In  Thailand.

Left six UK passports and about 2000 francs (obvs a longtime ago).....in a bag in the middle of a car park in Frejus or St Raphael, Southern France.

Didn't realise till the following day. Went to the Hotel de Ville......Belgium couple had handed it in...all intact.

Drop my wallet with military ID (big no no losing that) and about 1000 euros riding home from the mess in German. Police phoned me the next day all handed in.

I phoned the guy who found it and asked for his address......he refused and said he knew what I wanted to do and there was no need.

Maybe won the lottery and doubled down on the merit thingy.

Glad you found some honesty anyway.

Nice story. They were often told but mostly years ago.

Several months back I took a taxi from Swampy at 1.00 am to a hotel 25 kms away. Did not realize I had left a small bag with Passport and wallet and phone in back seat until just after taxi left.

The driver found the bag before new customers and drove all the way back to my hotel to return it but nobody new which room I was in.

In the morning I asked Reception if they could call the number provided on the Airport taxi receipt.

It was then I was informed that the driver had already tried to return my bag. They called and he came once more.

Made no request for compensation. I got him to wait for me to checkout and got him to take me to next destination for which I very generously tipped him!

Is it difficult for a foreigner there to open a bank account there?

Last year: Short trip to BKK, arrived by plane. The Grab-driver brought me to the hotel. There I noticed 5 minutes later that (stupid and clumsy me) my business mobile must be laying in his car.

Called from my private one, no answer. Already thinking about how I can explain this to my boss.

30 minutes later the driver showed up and came to the reception. He refused to accept my offer, which was peanuts in comparance to the trouble I would have had otherwise. After insisting and with the help of the reception translating for me - I was able to give him 1'000 bht.

Regardless where you are - honesty excists.

I did and do it the same - it comes always coes back to you.

If not in this life - maybe in your next one 😉
