In a bold, covert move, Thaksin Shinawatra has reportedly tasked a high-profile government figure with the mission to rally dissident MPs from the opposition.

Sources reveal that Thaksin has persuaded nearly a dozen Bhumjaithai Party members to support the Pheu Thai-led government in Parliament. This comes amidst efforts to strengthen their hold in the face of opposition forces.

The mysterious government operative is working to recruit individuals beyond just Bhumjaithai defectors. They are aiming to bolster Pheu Thai’s presence in Parliament by persuading MPs from other opposition factions to switch their allegiance. This aligns with Thaksin's confident stance that additional support could come from unexpected quarters, securing the passage of government legislation.

Amid these political manoeuvres, Thaksin is also locked in a legal battle, seeking to clear Paetongtarn's and his daughter's names. Despite rumours suggesting Paetongtarn should step down to avoid a damaging court verdict, Thaksin remains committed to defending her position.

The legal drama has garnered attention, particularly after a leaked conversation with Cambodian leader Hun Sen sparked accusations of treason against Paetongtarn.

The stakes are high as the National Anti-Corruption Commission sets its sights on the suspended prime minister’s alleged ethical breaches.

Meanwhile, Thaksin himself is contesting charges over a supposed deception during his hospital stay, potentially impacting his ongoing legal saga. Officials tied to this episode could face serious repercussions should misconduct be proven.

Adding to his legal woes, Thaksin faces an impending verdict in a lese-majeste case concerning comments made about the monarchy.

The political landscape remains uncertain as the plot deepens, with potential appeals likely on the horizon. This ongoing saga promises further complexities in the story of Thaksin and his intricate political legacy.

Loyalty that is obtained by money and not by greatness of mind and nobility of character is bought but not actually possessed

but that is not important in Thailand, people only look at the present and not at the future
