Bought another Omron BP machine from Lazada. Is it real?

Featured Replies

Bought an Omron HEM7130 ten years ago  from Lazada that finally quit on me, so bought another basic model an Omron BP701 from the "Official Omron Store". However, the new model has absolutely no identifying marks, like brand, model # or where it's made, so hard to know if it's even the real deal. The old model had all the correct markings, so assumed they all would do. Now I'm a bit skeptical as to whether I can even trust it's readings.

Check the exact wording. Maybe you bought a "Moron" blood pressure monitor rather than an "Omron"? Ha.

if it's not Lazmall...probably not.   I bought something similar, unmarked, no name....unbelievably cheap.....but it always says my BP is 110/70 so I happy and I'm keeping it.

It's not Omron official store, it's Health Convenience Store, whoever they are, only 11 followers, can't see how many products, so could be fake.    Having said that I bought a no name one f

Check it against another unit at a clinic or hospital. Repeatability is more important than absolute accuracy.

What do all the other reviews say? They would post photos and probably comment on it

My bad, there are no reviews. Because it was the "Official Omron Store" I assumed that it was a new release and none were sold yet. However, even the model # doesn't show up anywhere on a Google search except for Lazada and Shopee, so maybe it's only released in Thailand.

Just did a google for the product and got 3 links from Lazada and Shopee.

Two of them are dead links "product doesn't exist".

Guess it was too cheap to be true.

No listing on the Omron website for that model.

Was it this one on Lazada that you purchased ?

Clicking on the link.. it is not omron offical store

That is not the Omron offical store as you claimed in your OP.

And there are reviews, although you claimed there were non, which doubt it is a genuine product

The seller tells me it was made for the Russian market, but orders were cancelled and now being resold here. They have said return it for full refund if concerned. It does come with a 5 year warranty, if that's worth anything.

Having said that I bought a no name one from Lazada for 250 baht and it's very good.

Certainly a misleading advert so return it if you can.

Ironically this is probably pushing your blood pressure up

Well it says official store on the page I open, not going to argue about it.

Maybe you need new glasses as well then.

I guess you are referring to this:

That doesn't mean that the store is the Omron official store, just that they have taken the pictures from the official store website. A little misleading, yes, but the store doesn't actually claim to be the official store. If using Lazada/Shopee, you need to know how to read the listings.

Yes, that was my mistake. When I was searching for an Omron product on Lazada I saw Official Omron Store at the top and assumed it was.

This is ...  https://www.lazada.co.th/shop/omron-thailand-1525072635

It will state 'Authorised' or 'Flagship' Stores, as official.   If you can't find official stores, then go to manufacturer's site, and they will usually have links to the LAZ/Shopee 'authorized / flagship' stores

You should compare the readings you get with what you get at a doctor's clinic or hospital. Take the meter with you, measure side by side.

I have done that several times to convince cardiologists I have severe white coat syndrome.

Haha...if I do that and get a reading like 140/100 I'll be gutted.....555

If it is not in the Lazmall group of sellers, then it is not an 'official store' for any product being sold on Lazada.

My normal BP is 115/60, pulse 60 bpm.

Any time I go near a doctor, BP 175/95, pulse 75. I am not exaggerating.

My subconscious knows hospitals and clinics are places where they can hurt me.

Oh wow...that is a hell of a jump!!!!

I actually did do mine at the docs, in the UK ,May time.....it was 115/78.....I'd forgotten about that.

I take a sheet listing my BP and pulse for the last week, morning and evening, to the hospital with me. IIRC my record is 195/100.

It's the only way I can stop them from rushing me off to the ED.

Just for info - I have an Omron (for many years) a few months ago the connector for the arm band that fits in the machine broke - Thank god Lazada had a supplier for the part cost pennies and saved me buying a complete new machine.

I'm not surprised.

Have you ever had one of those continuous 24/7 monitors? I've always fancied a go to see how things vary naturally during the day.

Maybe too personal, so feel free to ignore......hypertensive retinopathy? CSVD? Any other signs of problems related to high BP?
