Demand for Thai workers in Israel is surging, with 10,000 new job openings reported as regional tensions appear to diminish.

Labour Minister Pongkawin Jungrungreangkit highlighted this increase during a recent meeting focused on emergency response plans for Thai workers in Israel, ensuring their safety in various scenarios.

The meeting, led by Mr Pongkawin, included 17 authorised recruitment agencies responsible for sending Thai workers to Israel, mainly in the agriculture sector. Officials from the Department of Employment (DoE) and Kittana Srisuriya, the Thai embassy's minister counsellor in Tel Aviv, also participated via video call.

Mr Pongkawin noted that despite lifting a suspension on Thai workers heading to Israel, safety concerns persist. Authorities are now using a colour-coded emergency response system to communicate levels of unrest.

The system defines green as normal, with no immediate concerns. Yellow indicates early-stage unrest with limited impact, urging workers to prepare travel documents and stay informed.

Orange signifies severe unrest without infrastructure damage, prompting continuous monitoring and updates.

Red is the highest alert level, signalling violence or attacks. Evacuations will be organised in cooperation with the Thai embassy, primarily by air, with overland routes to a third country as a backup.

Recruitment agencies are required to have dedicated coordinators for swift communication with Thai workers.

Mr Pongkawin pointed out that Israeli employers are seeking Thai talent across several sectors: 2,000 positions in construction, 2,800 in manufacturing, and 5,000 in services, collectively offering around 10,000 job openings. These positions promise a minimum salary of 60,000 Thai Baht monthly, with strict adherence to safety protocols.

Boonsong Thapchaiyuth, the Labour Ministry's permanent secretary, emphasised that Israeli employers must submit evacuation plans before recruiting Thai workers.

This development not only strengthens ties between Thailand and Israel but also offers new employment opportunities for Thai citizens, provided that safety measures are diligently followed.

Israel have been attacking Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and Iran recently.

I think there will be some wanting revenge for these attacks.

Very risky business working in Israel.

No thanks
