Seems they were a local nuisance with petty theft...  Glad they were caught and will be charged...  but the story is odd.

2 hours late, yes,  but they were also in Phuket which is about 3 hours away - so it may seem to the owner that there was something not quite right.

Perhaps the owner had fitted trackers and knew their whereabouts.

 

That would make a lot more sense - if the owner had trackers (i.e. AirTags) and knew the motorcycles were outside of the province, that would rightly set off flags...
