The Generals laying the groundwork for what will be Thailand's 13th (lucky for some) 'successful' coup?

You heard it here first.

Exactly, we are at war and the government is weak, therefore we, the army, must take full control.

And, what a coincidence, this is valid for both sides.

And I guarantee that Thai and Cambodia Buddhists go there.

All those people at Erawan Shrine.  Almost all are Buddhists.  Perhaps you don't grasp the fact that "Thai Buddhism" is an amalgam of Animism, Hinduism, and Buddhism.  My bet is that applies to Cambodian Buddhists as well. So it doesn't matter that's it's Khmer Hindu. The Buddhists in Thailand will just absorb other religious traditions, especially Hinduism, and file in under "Thai Buddhism." Just saying...

erawan-shrine-bangkok-2833091531.jpg.fdb976924270c4226b06d11a0be4a07f.jpg

Very true. There are multiple layers of hinduism and buddhism (in various strands) making up what one could call "Thai buddhism". Not to mention the older layers of animism and ancestor worship.

That being said, I find that what is practised in Thailand is rather a bastardised form of buddhism. Such obsession with "tambun", such obsession with money (a bit reminiscent of some forms of catholicism whereby one can buy merit or credit). And so much superstition!

Thailand better get this resolved and re-open the border with Cambodia asap or they are going to risk loosing a lot of tourists who come for 4 to 6 months to escape cold winters. All of the other options to the METV with visa runs to Cambodia are more onerus with additional costs and expenses. It would be less hassle and less cost to go to Vietnam instead.

Very true.....and this is a horrible thing to even contemplate.......but........... if the Cambodians detonated a (few) car bomb(s)....in Bangkok/Pattaya say ....that would wipe out tourism in a day.

Hun Sen knows that with the huge gap between respective economies and military strength, most of the world will see Cambodia as the underdog/victim in the conflict. And he seems willing to sacrifice a few hundred Cambodian soldiers to reinforce that POV.

The New Face of WAR

Bombing 7/11s.  Both Thailand and Cambodia's leaders need to take a deep breath and step back.  Then look at the absurdity of using deadly force to claim territory around Buddhist temples.  Siddhartha Gautama Buddha would be shaking his head as both Thai and Cambodia leaders resort to killing (civilians) out of greed for land.

Good luck wth that theory.

There's much evidence to the contrary with domestic (civil) wars omnipresent in all corners of the world.

Take a look at Myanmar, many African countries, some in Eastern Europe and also  current day America where hatred is directed against neighbors, even family, because of differing poltical or religious beliefs.

A disturbingly large percentage of indoctrinated ideologues in the US want civil war, and even advocate imprisonment or death for those  on the other side.

I'm afraid the abolition of borders will not result in the ceasation of some of mankind's most basic instincts. That could only be achieved by the availability of high level education for all, and the subsequent phasing out of all religious mythology.

Yup, good fences make good neighbors.

These military actions are being made by the army independent of any government direction.

I don't believe that. More likely with the consent of Shinawatras

Thais usually run away and accept the enemy on its land. Plus most of the Infantry are kids drafted. Your either drafted at 16 or you go into the Monks School. i'd be not wanting them watching my back in the Trenches.

Many stereotypes I think

You have the pecking order wrong. The army has more power than any politician or "ex" politician.

you probably don't have facebook.
In facebook for the last 1-2 years there have been some disputes/wars about cultural differences, what someone stole from someone. Successes of each nation. Hatred has been accumulating. I am only subscribed to groups on facebook about technologies that interest me, but facebook actively pushes all sorts of posts into my feed.

Unfortunately, humans are designed in such a way that they cannot live without periodic wars. Especially as long as countries/nations exist, there is a reason for war. Hatred tends to accumulate in humans and war is a good way to let off "steam of hatred".

Someday (we will not live to see it) countries will be banned and there will be only one nationality - human. Only then will wars stop. And those people of the future will see the history of our days and be surprised at what savages we were. As we are surprised at the savages of the Stone Age or the savagery of the Inquisition of the Middle Ages.

My daughter got chicken pox when she was about two. Her grandma thought she wouldn't get chicken pox because she was half farang.

My wife told her she's fricking HUMAN!

And with these public propaganda posters he might manage to keep the ordinary citizen motivated for doing something for their future.

Powerful propaganda and agenda where I have seen this pic and similar pics used on social media lately. Used google lens and it appears in numerous findings lately

I don't agree. But anyway, for either opinion there is no proof, unless somebody was personally involved

Autre chose ?

Wait few week-end is good for thaï army make coup
