That won't help if you hit a 6 inch steel barrier at any speed.

Don't need Smart Crossings, you need Smart drivers, and that's not happening any time soon.

I was thinking maybe those steel posts that come up out of the ground would do it.

  • Hopeless decoration as usual. Very dangerous because giving a false sense of security to pedestrians

If people don't already stop for lights and clearly marked crossing directly in front of the cop shop down the road what makes them think this will work.

Don't need brighter lights. Need enforcement of rules. Simple stuff.

Local foreigners that must mean. Thais don't walk.  They don't even know their legs can do that.

Pattaya Introduces Smart Crossings for Enhanced Safety

Nothing smart about them lights  it's up to the cops to enforce the Law.

Until that happens Nothing will change.

What Really would work 100% is put  stoplights  with  a push button  Green and Red  an when the light goes Red Make 100 MM spikes pop up they soon Learn when they don't sop and get All Flat Tires.  👍

Because Thais don't walk anywhere that's why.  You going to say "I know Thais that walk... blah blah blah"  You don't have to take it literally. The majority don't walk and if you do see any walking that means they haven't got the cash for a taxi that day.    If you tell me that Thais do walk then you don't know Thailand or Thais.  Unless maybe you don't do any yourself and think walking 3 yards to your nearest 7-11 is walking.

At 1.36 a pick-up stops. because the light says 11 seconds left. Good man! ..but there are no people wanting to cross the road. 555

That also happens in the UK and many other countries with road traffic control systems that are respected and laws that are enforced. Nobody drives through the red.

Try reading ALL the replies including mine of 26 minutes ago on page 2. Then work out what 15 cm is in inches.

Have you ever been to Thailand?   I suppose that's all i can expect from someone who has Putin as his profile picture that sums up your mentality.   you could start an argument in a phone box

I can see by your interactions with other members you're just spoiling for a fight.  That's why Putin is your hero

This is a good comment, so many pedestrians holding amulet in hand, crossing the road hoping for the best.

I see similar reckless foreigners crossing the road at times.

I would have to agree. Most tourists do not care where they cross the roads. These smart crossings seem like just another waste of money Pattaya seems to be good at. Rather than addressing the real problems they find ways to skirt the issues. Can any explain to me how a tourist is going to know what the lights mean when lit or flashing? Or are they putting instructions in multiple languages to read as you are pushing the crossing button?

I agree. There's many but they still need many more of these สะพานลอย throughout Thailand.   I was very disappointed they didn't build more during Covid.

You seem to have no idea how to read or comprehend a post, nor can you reply to a post without insulting the poster.

Not steel posts but maybe spikes.  Ridiculous thinking lights will do anything.  How about a cop to monitor the crosswalk--never any mention of cops doing any work.

Chinese have it nailed.....your driving licence is tied to your bank account and number plate......with ANPR......drive through a red light, speed, park in a restricted area....and you can see your bank account debited in real time.....5555
