In Thailand: What are your plans when Nuclear War happens?

Dear Folks,

 

I just want to ask you about your plans when nuclear war happens.

 

Do you have a plan?

 

Also, how do we live with this angst and this leftover from the Age of Anxiety caused by the nuclear age of the 1960s?  We can’t live with it unless we can also be in denial of it.

 

But this is not about the philosophy of MAD, and I am only asking about your personal plans when you, one-day soon, hear on your radio, or TikTok, that nuclear warheads have begun flying and then blasting all major cities in the west.

 

Thankfully, we are here in Thailand, and so we will have more time to evacuate.

Evacuation will be key for our survival, of course.

 

There is always Pitcairn Island, which is one that is high on my list.

 

But, what about you…..?

When you get the first signal that the nukes are raining down in the west, then what might be your plan?

 

Will you stockpile rice, for example?

 

Some say that nuclear war will never happen.

But, are you one of these who has no understanding of probability theory?

 

So, we know that this will happen, and that it is just a question of statistical math, and some unknown period of time.

 

The question posed in this topic is:  What will you do when you first get the word?

 

This is a very hard question.

I don’t even know what I might do.

Yes, I have a plan, but not sure it would actually work...

 

As for Pitcairn Island, it is pretty small, and almost all things are imported by ship... Good luck surviving there after a nuclear war, not to mention getting there.

 Just because no-one can guarantee that nuclear war will never happen, that doesn't mean that anyone can guarantee that it must inevitably happen, either. 

 

Neither outcome is guaranteed. 

 

And even if nuclear war might happen eventually, there's nothing to say that it's going to happen within any of our lifetimes.

Radiation and fallout will probably reach Thailand relatively quickly.

a. I do expect to see this in my lifetime.

b. I will not seek higher ground.

c.  But, STILL, I will definitely do something.

d. Yet, I am not entirely sure that I have made my best plan, in this case.

e. I think I need to do more planning, in this case.

As I said, this is the essence of probability theory....except that....

 

Given time, then almost anything can be almost guaranteed to happen, no matter how unlikely.

1. Sell my investments, exchange the money to dollars and gold.

 

2. Leave on an airplane to safer destinations.

 

(If necessary, abandon step 1, as I would need days to do this.)

By the way, in case you have not yet watched the beautiful film Melancholia, and I don't want to get sidetracked here.....

 

aa.  This film captures the great beauty and despair that all will feel when the nukes begin to rain down.

 

bb.  The strange thing about the film, though, is that the time between the first knowledge of impending doom and the actual destruction, is expanded greatly.

 

cc.  With a nuclear exchange of warheads, this progression from knowing that doom is imminent to seeing total wipe-out is much expanded.

 

dd.  So, anyway, with the typical nuclear exchange of several thousand warheads, or even far less, we might have much less time to examine our thoughts, compared to what is shown in this great movie....

 

 

 ee.  It now seems apparent that disarmament is totally beyond the capabilities of modern man.  After over 7 decades, nobody is interested in reducing risk, and proliferation continues, as usual.

 

ff.  So, the TOPIC is just to ask....what do you plan on doing, if anything....when ....  one bright and sunny day.....

 

The nukes begin to fall like rain in the west.....

For some strange reason, it just seems less likely that China might become the instigator of thermonuclear devastation compared to the west.....

Compared to the Chinese, in my opinion, we Americans are, culturally speaking, far more likely to fly off the handle and become HOT-HEADS....

 

But, this does not matter...because....

 

This topic is only about your plans when the missiles fly....

 

So sad to know that this will happen....one day....

Here is another great film which might help you when you imagine what it might be like, here in Thailand,  when the west first unleashes its nuclear arsenals, tit for tat...

You won't hear much from the west when this happens.

And we will be TOTALLY CUT OFF here in Thailand....

 

We will become just like 

Humphrey Bogart and

Katharine Hepburn...in..the film...

Most of us will find life very difficult, I would imagine...

If it became a nuclear war with multiple nuclear explosions you would either die immediately or slowly within days or months depending on how close you were to the explosions.

Nowhere in the world would be completely safe the seas would become contaminated the rain would be contaminated water and food would be contaminated a global famine.

The ozone layer that protects us from the suns radiation could be destroyed there would be extreme weather conditions a nuclear winter.

In short we would all be fu-cked so it wouldnt matter what you did. 

 

The only answer is to get rid of all of them but how do you unlearn something.

China is a main target and has been from the start… all nuclear powers are.

Also, you can be assured that nobody will linger, young or old, 

 

If you want to go super fast...then you will need about 10,000 rads, or more.

 

So, try to get as close as you can to the blast.....

The most likely nuclear wars would be between Israel and Iran or between India and Pakistan.  Both would cause worldwide economic chaos which would effect Thailand.  

 

I would be more concerned about food and money than fallout!
