Apologies if covered before, but I read somewhere here that KBank at CW will close permanently in Sept? I always used this branch office to get my bank letter for the one year extension along with a copy of book, no statement needed for me as I use a special 800k account just for this with no other transactions.

So my question is with the CW bank branch closing can I get the letter from any KBank the day before or must it be done only on the day of extension? What are the rules about this?

Bank Letter and Bank Statement can be obtained up to 7 days prior.

Suggest obtain day or two prior

BTW: Nothing special about your account. Seems you have a FD account (fixed deposit)

Thanks, so 7 days is fine. I will try a branch at the end of my local soi and that should ease the hassle at CW.

By special I agree there is nothing special about it 🙂 It was just another account opened e-special-ly by me years ago for my ease of use getting annual extensions and is in fact just a savings account not a FD. I understood I could have got a FD for more interest, didn't know at the time and never bothered switching to FD since.

I always have a print out of my savings account, (also like yours, only used for the THB800K IMM monies), each page of which is signed by the bank, (Krungsri). I thought IMM required 1) bank letter and 2) signed printed copy of savings transactions 3) passbook etc. (I go to CW too, and these are the documents my gofer asks me to provide.)

I'd just carry on doing what works for you as we are getting mixed reports I think.

In my case the bank letter and copy of bank book with original bank book is all CW asks me for. The only transactions in the book are the 6 monthly interest/WHT and the small amount I add to account on day of bank letter (I usually transfer 10THB in and back out on my KPlus app on the phone just before going to the bank). So every single transaction is shown in the book in just a few lines for the whole year.

That's correct. If you were using a savings account CW may also require a 12 month bank statement.

As for transaction on day of application you have process that works for you so stick with that.

For those with savings account suggest best to make small deposit on day of application.

Ask teller to photocopy that last page to show update.

Does not matter that the balance on the bank letter will be different to bank book.

Thanks. So getting a bank letter the day before still requires a trip to the bank on the day of extension application to do a small transaction? We cannot do the transaction the day of the bank letter? Is that the rules?

As usual the "rules" Vary depending on io.

I have been sent down to L1 to make a deposit to "show activity in the account" on day of application.

Having stated that first hand experience I have read posts on this forum where folk did no update or deposit.

When I was using FD account for extensions at CW I always did a deposit on day of application.

Certainly required for savings accounts.

OK so I could get the bank letter the day before, then on the extension day do a small cash deposit/withdrawal on the 800k savings account and update the book at a passbook  update machine. I wonder if when KBank closes at CW they will leave their ATMs and passbook update machines working there?!

The deposit (eg 100b) shows activity and also updates the balance.

No need to also go to machine to update.

Ask teller to photocopy last page of bank book to show the deposit.

And yes obtain the bank letter day or two prior.

If it is a Fixed deposit account do NOT make a withdrawal as you will lose all interest!
