I went to a holiday with my 2 kids in 2018 to London.Not a place i will go back to.

To me London and the UK were magical places. First time was in 1997 and loved it. Last visit was in 2004 and loved it as well. Took a London taxi for  and it was worth the 40 pound fare from Heathrow to central London. Just like in the movies the taxi driver was friendly and informative.  I grew up on British TV and it was a drem to visit London and the UK.  Cannot imagine what it's like now.  

First British TV show I ever saw was UFO by the late Gerry Anderson.  It is still my favorite British TV.

lived in London 11 years, it was, and is, a magnificent place. sure, it's not for everyone, if you don;t appreciate history, culture, architecture, world class museums (free), world class art galleries (free), world class entertainment, efficient public transport, etc. then for sure, stay away.

Now it's an awesome city. Central London at least has to be one of the best vibes in the world. The food from all around the world without doubt is some of the best in the world - i don't know a city that has such amazing food.

I love London. One of the best cities in the world without doubt. 

 

Museums are a great day out, and most are free. The food as i said is awesome. The theatres and entertainment. Little pollution. World class history that has been preserved. Great people, good mix of cultures. 

 

Despite the rhetoric from racists directed at the Mayor, London is actually safer than Bangkok. It is the 14th safest city in the world. 

 

Britain gets really awful the further north you go, to cities like Sunderland. GRIM

My 3 years in London circa 1980 was heaven!  Never locked my door (always had friends dropping by), the lady running the corner shop saying "pay me tomorrow luv", and the grateful bouncers at the clubs stopping fights before they started, sipping on drinks sitting next to Julian Lennon at Stringfellows, unforgettable times!

 

Hate it now, rarely see a white face amongst the crowd of browns and blacks.

   Wasn't helped by many White men moving to Thailand and they were replaced by non Whites in London .

   Some of those men that went to Thailand even bought Brown woman back with them to the UK , some even had half brown children with them

One of the unspoken reasons for the apparent change of demographic in London, is that not many can afford to live there anymore, without subsidies.

I know, as I'm a Londoner born and bred. I'm one of the few of my peers who still lives in London. Most have moved to the suburbs and beyond.

Immigrants were willing to live ten, twelve and more to a home, sharing costs, so being able to build property portfolios.

Smaller British families pushed out as the burden of owning property is often too much for smaller families. They simply cannot afford to have large families.

Why else do you think immigration does not stop, no matter how much every political party pretends that they want to stop it?

Without people willing to have children, it would just be a nation of oldies on pensions, with not enough young people.

They blame immigrants taking their council houses, but who was going to do the work that they refused to do? That they thought was beneath them?

Of course those owning properties are happy when the value of their property is going up. Not caring that ordinary people can no longer get on the ladder.

Gone are the days when a man's salary could support a family. Whose fault is that?

Some will blame politicians selling everything off, but at the same time they took the money and ran.

So many looking to blame others for their woes, but refuse to see the part they played in it.

Personally, I haven't put the rent up in the apartment I rent out in more than ten years, as there is no reason for me to do so. I'm not going hungry.

I love London, just as I also love being in Thailand. Some people just spend their whole lives complaining and feeling hard done by.

That's why you don't ever see me complaining about either. It's like slagging off your own family to outsiders.

As a young man I started visiting through work in the 80's and 90's and 2000's and loved it

 

Granted I was a tourist and my experience was central London and the tourist traps.

 

I loved the museums, the art galleries, of course the palaces

 

We went back a few years ago for a friends wedding in England and afterwards spent a couple of days in London.

 

My wife loved it, and it was almost exactly as I remembered it from years ago

I suppose you could compare history wise, London to Bombay...when under coloniasm Bombay was a great place but then under independence turned into a cesspit..bit like London will be when mass deportations start, it will return to it's former glory 👍

i was in London for 2 months in 1987. I liked it there.

Later in 2003 i went back for some days. I was disappointed.
