A 52-year-old man was arrested after storming his child’s school in Buri Ram province wielding two knives, allegedly angered by the school director’s repeated refusal to allow him to take his son away from the school, to live and study with him in another province.

At approximately 10:00 on 30 July, police from Satuek Police Station responded to an emergency call from the headteacher of a school in Tambon Thung Wang, Satuek District. Officers found the suspect, identified only as Mr Duan, sitting calmly inside a school pavilion next to his unregistered white Honda Wave motorcycle. He was in possession of a kitchen knife and a smaller pointed blade, both of which were confiscated by police.

According to Mr Chitsanu, the school’s director, Mr Duan entered the premises on a motorcycle, opened the seat compartment, pulled out the knives and began approaching him in a threatening manner. Mr Chitsanu immediately ran to alert teachers and ordered classrooms to be locked down. Some students reportedly fled the school in panic.

Mr Duan’s 15-year-old son, a Mathayom 3 pupil, studies at the school. The suspect had visited on two previous occasions, both times allegedly under the influence of alcohol. On this third visit, however, he arrived armed. The school promptly contacted village officials and police.

Local village headman Mr Athiwat said that Mr Duan, a freelance photographer from Roi Et province, separated from his wife three years ago. Their two children, an 8-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old son, live with their mother in Satuek. Mr Duan had attempted twice before to take his son to live with him in Suwannaphum District, Roi Et, but the headteacher denied his requests, citing academic term completion concerns.

Police stated that on the morning of the incident, Mr Duan admitted drinking a small bottle of local white whisky “to calm his nerves” before riding across provincial lines to confront the school. He claimed the knives were only meant to frighten teachers and had no intention of harming anyone.

Authorities conducted a urine drug test, which returned negative for narcotics. Mr Duan has been charged with unlawful entry into a government building and carrying weapons in a public place without just cause.

I complete fool and madman. I guess he have to go to court and settle the problem as everybody else, but far too dumb to both understand that and to win. He´s actions clearly shows, that he is not mature enough and should have used a condom.
