  • He hit the side of the trailer, not the cab, looks more like a motorcycle rider not paying attention.

  • Looks like dumbo ran into the driver side of the truck... why was the scoot trying to over take a turning truck ?

  • Very sad. I would say it's a combination of.. - stupidly-designed roads that allow u-turns, especially for trucks - high speed and lack of awareness by the rider, but we have no evidenc

If not required, why even put one.........what? How does that even make any sense?

If you want to troll up your game.....this is incredibly weak.

You can see two in the picture, one on the back side corner and one right above where the motorcycle hit, I would guess another one on the front corner of the trailer. He also has yellow reflective tape down the whole side of the trailer, I mean for Thailand? His trailer looks pretty well setup safety wise, there are MUCH MUCH worse vehicles out there.

Pretty obvious IMO what happened.

Bike traveling at high rate of speed at night, inattentive rider.

When he eventually looked up and recognized the threat, he focused on the one spot most dangerous, instead of visualizing a path around the obstacle.

He fixated on the bright red light, and his reflexes drove him right into it.

The rear one 'could be' a rear light, one in the middle and the assumption of one near the front, if it is there and working.

Going back to my original point, rather nit picking over how many ralf can count to.....there are no regulations....hence posting a comparison of the UK regulations and the non-existent Thai regulations.

Yeah, its not the best, but still way better than most of the decrepit trucks running the roads here in Thailand, no comparison to the West though.

Anything to do with vehicles there is a stopping distance depending on the speed. Unfortunately many people ignore this believing they can stop from 100km/hr in a few feet. Anticipation is a useful asset when driving any vehicle let alone a bike. It does not seem to have been considered in this unfortunate case.

A tragedy definitely but could probably been avoided with a little awareness.

Condolences to his family.

Exactly. Thai's tend to just go straight and and keep their pace then try to avoid obstacles as they present themselves. This guy probably tried that and didn't make it. you see this stuff every day so I'm not surprised in the slightest.

No helmet, wearing shorts and flip flops, weaving in and out in traffic, cutting in front of cars and trucks, going the wrong way down a one way street...........and the list of stupidity goes on and on. Idiots on wheels moving closer and closer to their death.

Yup, idiot hit my side mirror this morning driving his motorcycle the wrong way and kept going, noticed a hairline crack in the blinker on the mirror when I got home......GRRRRR!

Most vehicles will pull out Infront of a motorcycle, part of the might has right rules.

a motorcycle rider needs to be ready for it.

I wonder if the lorry driver will receive any punishment.... banned from HGV driving might save a few more lives.

Considering the fact that the  driver did not run away and instead called EMS, that does suggest that this isn't the typical Thai driver. He may very well have been blameless if the U turn was allowed.  A big truck like that has to slow down to do the turn, so the motorcyclist would have had some warning.

That's it. And with such a long vehicle some obstruction is unavoidable.

We have a Makro market that can be reached from the east only via a small U-turn.

More than one death as far as I remember.

Same scheme like above.

If you remember, a few years ago a Farang was killed at a U-turn on the Sukhumvit opposite MAKRO in Pattaya - that got closed - as they all should.
