Apple hearing aid feature now finally available in Thailand!

Featured Replies

Heads up for some good news if you have hearing loss: Apple's hearing test and hearing aid feature has just been released here in Thailand, I don't know why it has taken so long (Thai FDA is assume), but let's instead focus on the positive.

You'l need a recent iPhone and Airpods Pro 2 with latest software (iOS18.6) and firmware (7E93). The airpods seem to do this on their own when connected to your phone. See Apple's info here on how to do test and use the function: https://support.apple.com/en-us/120992

I have just tested it briefly and it works quite well. I scanned my audiogram from April this year with my phone, and just started using the hearing aid without any special settings. Quite good "out of the box", and it can be adjusted further to fit your needs. Apple do however warn that it will take some time (weeks...) to adapt fully to this, so adjust a little at the time.

My next step is to do my own hearing test and store in the phone, to see if that will improve the results. I do feel it should since hearing seems to have dropped a bit since April.

But anyhoo, for those of you lucky (or smart? 😎) enough to have these gadgets, go and try it out for yourselves. And remember it is at no extra cost (apart from paying for the gadgets of course). The quality will probably not match the top tier commercial hearing aids on the market, but for those you can easily pay 50-100K+ per ear for.
