Italy should just study the UK. They did a Brexit to solve the immigration problem and this has gone incredibly well.

The Brexit has been sabotaged at every  step along the long and torturous  path,  politicians doing their utmost to deny the will of the voters.

Even today  they do nothing to turn back the illegal boats crossing the channel from the safe country of France.

UK is an Island  should be easy to stop  illegals arriving by boat

Royal Navy anyone  ?

Yes, agreed, it should be easy, since the UK is an island.

And yet...looks worse than before, doesn't it?

Perhaps Meloni really needs to study it, to know what not to do.

I guess I won’t

Come on, no one believes that. You've been single for too long!😄

Somebody explain to me why it is that the EU bigwigs as well as the UK bigwigs want to flood the EU and UK, respectively, with as many non-Europeans and non-United_Kingdom migrants - legal and illegal - as they possibly can while quite literally p*ssing on their own citizens economical and socially.  Really  - it's fine if EU and UK citizens who are down-and-out economically sleep rough on the streets with few economic prospects and the elderly freeze in their homes, if they are lucky enough to have a home as opposed to being kicked to the street...and yet the EU bigwigs as well as the UK bigwigs can find the money to house their "migrants," as well as to feed them, provide healthcare, and supply them with free money - and if they commit crimes, well, "They are from different cultures and EU and UK citizens need to be accepting," as the courts let migrant crimes slide.  And of course, now if you complain, you are tracked, monitored, and declared an enemy of the state.  Protest or write critique on social media?  "Prison for you!"

Why is that?  What's their end game ya' think?  The fat cats really, really, really hate their own citizens.

Perhaps a joint Thai/Cambodian Commission could give advice.

Ask Trump.  He ended the war!  Didn't ya know?

All the Europhiles were claiming EU states were free to manage borders and immigrants as they wanted.

Well it seems they have now realized the illusion of sovereignty is just that. An illusion.

Come on Giorgia. Italexit. You know you want to.

How does that differ from brexit and do you really think europe can be saved?

It would differ from Brexit in that under Meloni they wouldn't have traitors undermining the vote and colluding with the EU, like Britain had.

Simple, all the EU nations are suffering from the fact that women refuse to have children now. As a result the socialist-market economic model, where future generations fund the retirement costs of the previous generation is no longer sustainable. Japan too has started importing foreigners, which is saying something.

And of course the ideological rainbow diversity creed, which is the prevailing fashion of the day.

Add in capitalist requirements for cheap labour and you quickly start to see why these EU politicians have gone on recuritment drives for foreigners.

ECHR is outdated and unfit for modern time, and these judges that are making political decisions are out of order and beyond their remit, as they are unelected and biased, plus can be gotten to by Brussles. Hold a referendum about if you should leave the ECHR or not, as there is a procedure for leaving.

Europeans colonized the world for their own gain.  Now it time for payback.  Enjoy.

I have asked this question so many times that I have lost count but, what exactly should have been done differently to ensure that Brexit would be a success?

It's also been answered many times Ray.

Your memory issues do not warrant everyone repeating themselves.

Great we can go back to changing francs to liras at the border and pay the "turn " ?

How did they get in Italian waters to start with, nowhere near their country

Not too far, really. Migrants are brought overland from distant countries into N. Africa and Turkey. Italy has been experiencing this problem for more than 20 years, mainly via Lampedusa, an Italian island off Tunisia. From Turkey, most have been moved into Greece through the easternmost Greek islands. Now it look like Greece has had enough too.

Most EU borders are effectively open to travel from other EU states, which has enabled  so many to move on, further north and west.

I'll have a go at answering.

I used to think that that various reporting on WEF / Davos / World without Borders, and so on, was tinfoil hat territory.

Now I think it is the only explanation. There is no way on this Earth that politicos are so stupid that they cannot see what they are doing.

Therefore, the only conclusion that I can draw, is that it is all intentional, and politicos are actually puppets having their strings pulled.

To many liberal courts with judge's who sit on their high horses with no sense of the filth, criminal activity and disruption to local community's these illegal scum bring with them.

The judges are applying the laws as written. It is up to the EU Parliament to write a clear without wiggle room.

The United Kingdom is no longer in the EC but France still is, hence their lack of action on preventing these trafficking gangs and hordes of rubber boat riders from leaving the French beaches. The EC collective mostly has the same issue with mass illegal migration but they're not about to do the Brexit winners any favours.

Every illegal that leaves from French beaches and never returns is one less illegal for the EC to deal with.

That still leaves the question as to why the UK making itself so attractive to illegals by giving them free accomodation, free health services, free recreational activity, and pocket money to name just a few of the benefits they are given, paid for by UK tax payers.

You: This isn't the Brexit which I voted for

Me: What should Brexit have looked like then?

You: <Insert evasive non-answer here>

truly leaving meant returning to the same status as before the UK joined the EEC.

Yes, I know, so many problems with that, but with mutual and genuine goodwill they could have been sorted out.

If you still believe their only attraction is a life on, "benefits they are given, paid for by UK tax payers", you obviously aren't smart enough to appreciate their real attraction to the UK.

Yes, they despise the people that vote for them. It's a transatlantic trend actually.

Countries like Germany, Sweden, and the Netherlands often offer more generous welfare, housing, and integration support.

However, the UK’s asylum support does include:

  ◦  Basic accommodation

  ◦  £47.39 per week for essentials (as of 2025)

  ◦  Limited access to work or education until claims are processed

Some have family here already....that is a massive pull. Many have some basic English which potentially makes life easier, many are conned into thinking the UK is easy to get to by the smugglers and the only safe haven in Europe.
