Police in Maha Sarakham have arrested a 35-year-old man and his 12-year-old girlfriend after a high-speed chase ended with the discovery of more than 41,000 methamphetamine tablets.

On 9 August, Provincial Police Commander Pol Maj Gen Pladet Phetwha-ngo, along with senior officers, ordered an operation to apprehend the suspects after intelligence indicated that a key drug courier was active in the province.

The suspect, identified only as “Nong”, was reportedly travelling to pick up his young girlfriend, known only as “T.”, aged 12, after making drug deliveries. When officers attempted to intercept his vehicle, Nong fled, prompting a 20km pursuit through Muang district towards Kae Dam district. The chase ended when his pickup truck skidded off the road in Nong Pling subdistrict.

A search of the vehicle uncovered 41,394 methamphetamine pills, two mobile phones and a bank account containing 130,177.74 baht.

Both suspects were charged with possession of a Category 1 narcotic with intent to sell, trafficking in a manner likely to cause widespread distribution, and endangering public safety and state security. They were taken to Muang Maha Sarakham Police Station for further investigation.

Pol Col Sumet Pitakkiatyos, Chief of the Provincial Investigation Unit, said Nong confessed to being a “drug drop-off courier” working for a dealer in a neighbouring country. He would receive 50 bundles per delivery, each containing 2,000 pills, earning 1,000 baht per bundle, around 50,000 baht per run.

He claimed his relationship with the girl had only recently begun, stating she was related to his ex-girlfriend. Both now face serious charges that carry lengthy prison sentences.

and the police don't seem to think it's a problem

sick Thailand

Disturbing. Being a drug dealer is enough for a long sentence, having a 12 year old girlfriend involved warrants a life sentence.

From that area??  More likely Khmer, or Hmong Meo tribes, who regularly have young wives, back in Seventies we would come across  girls 12-13 pregnant or nursing.

I miss the pointing.............are we suppose to just guess the guy sat down and blurred out is the drug dealer?
