I trust that Apple are remunerating you handsomely for plugging their products on here! 🤑

The Google Pixels are also well supported, but if you buy a <deleted>ty 5,000 baht handset don’t expect updates or for your apps to work forever.

Take the photo on your mobile phone AT the bank........their lighting is better and there is help on hand.     That worked for me

  • I have absolutely no trouble with the Bangkok Bank app, except that it’s a bit slow in that the code is not well optimized.    I often think about older people who can’t use technology and h

Been to the bank 3 times  so now have to take photo on mobile phone at home , my daughter sets it up for me,

this app is doing my head in ,tried to do it about 30 times ,causing fighting in the house,  you have got to get your

face inside an oval space on the phone , blink your eyes ,turn left ,right , but for me , it keeps saying "Face covering

detected "  " Open up your face "  what  the xxxx does that even mean , in frustration I have cut my beard off ,but it's still

saying that .

I have done the exact same thing at Siam Commercial Bank , no problem ,worked straight away , no problem at all,

I have to get my daughter to do all this , I have a phone (for this App ) but never use it as a phone ,don't like them .

I am 80 years old ,take that into consideration too ,I don't think Bangkok Bank does ,

What does this app exactly do , Transfers , check your balance online , anything else?

regards worgeordie

I just went through this exact same thing a couple days ago.  Appears to be a bug with that app.  Maybe depends on what phone or Android version you have.  I have a Samsung Galaxy S24 with Android 15.  Keep trying with different backgrounds and lighting.  I finally got it to work in the bathroom where the mirror lights are quite bright and there is a light brown background behind me.  Took me at least 30 or 40 tries going all over the house trying all sorts of different lighting and backgrounds.  The app will time out after about 10 minutes of doing that and then you have to start the whole process all over again re-entering your passport and age etc to get back to that step.  Really annoying.

As a last resort I was going to start playing with the settings on the selfie camera but then I finally got it to work.

I just followed the bank staff instructions, that is what they asked for and thats what I did. Bank branches have differant views on what works, and this worked.

That is not the problem.  Even while doing the gestures properly the circle around my head kept deactivating which causes it to try start over with the gestures again.  It should only do that if your head goes outside the circle, which I definitely was not doing, or you have something covering your face like glasses or a hat or a mask, which I also was not doing. I also made sure to have good lighting and nothing in the background and it was still being a PiTA.   It's a bug with the app not detecting properly.

Can't comment on iOS but seriously, is there anyone using an Android before 9??

iOS 14 released in 2020.

Requires newer than iPhone 6.

I found out that the BBL mobile app requires Android 10 (not 9) or above to work.

So it was time to replace the 7 year + old Samsung with a new one.....which has Android 15, huge storage, very fast chip (CPU?) , Large screen, ongoing bailiff and super fast charging!

Good investment

Also, not just BBL App but  other banking apps (including overseas) and MyAIS app etc.

Finally got the BBL app to work (at home) with help from step daughter and now all is sweet....especially paying regular, everyday utilities bills etc.

bangkok bank facial recognition is seriously flawed, look straight blink 3 times show teeth look left look right and if you get anything wrong you start again, I wear reading glasses which makes it extremly difficult to use and you cannot opt out, wouldn't be so bad if it just scanned your face once but this is a whole process of 6 scans in a particular order just to log into the app, it randomly reqires the face scan just to log in, Thais can opt out but foreigners cannot W T F

Had no luck inside, went to the porch with better light and got it to work.

So, now if you want to transfer more than 50K, you have to go to the bathroom with your phone? Madness.

I was quoting your experience on where you need to be for a successful selfie. I guess I best add a smiley for the benefit of the humor challenged:

"I finally got it to work in the bathroom where the mirror lights are quite bright and there is a light brown background behind me."

By the way, if you flushed you wouldn't have that light brown background.....  😮
