In an unexpected turn of events, a man causing a disturbance at Chumphon railway station has been apprehended, revealing deeper troubles. The incident unfolded at 3:30 pm yesterday, August 13, when a report from the public prompted action by local law enforcement.

Upon arrival, Police Lieutenant Colonel Piyaphon Chatpoom and his team encountered Prasert Boonphuem, a 47-year-old visibly intoxicated man, sitting on the stairs leading to the platform. Prasert was wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt, with a black jacket casually draped over his shoulder, along with long jeans. He was carrying a black backpack and a red plastic bag.

His loud and disruptive behaviour led police to detain him and escort him to the Chumphon police station for further assessment.

As officers were transporting him, the plot thickened. Police Colonel Thongchai Nuijaroen, Deputy Commander of Chumphon Province, alerted the team about an arrest warrant originating from the Krabi Provincial Court. The warrant, number 479/2568 and coincidentally dated August 13, charged Prasert Boonphuem with an assault that had tragically resulted in death.

It soon became clear that the man under their custody was indeed the same individual wanted for this grave offence. Once they realised this, authorities promptly arrested him on the spot, presenting the warrant and reading it aloud.

Prasert acknowledged his identity as stated in the warrant, admitting he had not previously been apprehended for this charge.

The police then completed the necessary arrest documentation and profiling at the Mueang Chumphon Police Station’s investigation centre. Following this, Prasert was safely transferred to the Ao Luek Police Station, where he will face further legal proceedings.

The swift response by the Chumphon Provincial Police not only quelled the immediate disturbance but also played a crucial role in capturing a wanted individual, advancing a significant legal case from Krabi.

This incident highlights the importance of vigilant community reporting and quick police action. As Prasert awaits his next steps in the legal process, the community remains attentive, hoping for justice to be duly served.
