It is still incredible that the biggest chain of convenience stores in the country still doesn't except QR bank scan to purchase .Just a handful of shops across the country or in Bangkok accept. When you think little food stalls in the street accept bank scan but the massive CP owned corporation convenience store chain doesn't .

Might just be, they don't accept your bank, as I see folks paying all the time.  Ms Google also states they accept.

They want you to use TrueMoney, for obvious reasons.

Don't know why it's 'obvious' .unless of course you mean True corp pay CP to have exclusive cashless payment .

Many of the 7-11 are franchises (almost half of), so maybe that could be an issue.

Because it is a stupid time waster especially at 7-11.

I bet most of the total items purchased per customer is around 200 b, probably much less.  But, people are stupid they buy a bottle of water for 10b, wait until they get to the counter and the employee scans the purchase.  Then, they pull up the app on their phone, log in, put the amount in, oh oh it is not  working.  Fool around more trying to figure it out.  Eventually showing the confirmed purchase.

Why not put 10b on the counter and walk out?

Time waster for dummies who can't carry a few baht around.

Both companies are related, it is a joint venture.

Before I setup TrueMoney I never paid cashless at 7/11.

Do you really want to fill your bank account with xx Baht transactions?

I rarely use QR code for amounts less than 1000 Baht.

Even more stunning are foreigners carrying around their foreign credit cards to pay xxx Baht. But that's obviously a cultural thing.

Extremely rare that I physically use my foreign CC in Thailand. It's in the safe at home. Not even taking it on domestic trips.

Some still don't know who owns this country 😁

So many nice names everywhere and all go to one purse.

Try to list them!

Or better try to find one that is not CP (like Central/TOPS).

CP 134% rise in profit this year (other thread).

Untrue! This post is a big lie!

They are more restrictive than that. They don't accept debit cards from any banks, only credit cards.

Truemoney is a good option as it's faster than QR code. There's no need to confirm a transaction, so it's instant. If there's a mistake, they instantly cancel the transfer.

I used my credit card at 711 for years before I switched to TrueMoney. I never had a problem. Just tap and pay. You find this stunning? They didn't accept my local debit card, so it was a convenient option and had nothing to do with my culture. That was a stunning statement, LOL. I don't do things your way, and it's my culture to blame.

If you want to use overseas money without the expense of ATM withdrawals or transfers, Credit Cards are a great option to use at all reputable local businesses.

I know for sure they don't accept debit cards, from overseas or local banks (K-Bank), as I have tried this several times. Maybe some stores do, but I gave up after a number of attempts.

Wake up, please.

CP Group is the master franchisee of 7-11 for Thailand
True and True Money are subsidiaries of CP Group

And... True Digital sells Big Data solutions to government agencies and big companies across ASEAN... I let you imagine what kind of data (volume, accuracy) they can offer when the group controls Telcos, Payment Solutions, Retail Operations. etc.

Exactly......I dread being behind someone in the 7-11 line who pays with their phone.....So many times they have some kind of problem with the transaction....

Wake up you with eyes wide shut.

The NWO plan is to cancel cash completely so that you are forced to use digital forms of cash instead.

The excuse to implement this plan will be to; stop fraud, money laundering, drug selling, and "for your convenience".

The gullible will sign up without a thought of the consequences.

The wise already see the reason for the plan.

COUGH cough!

The answer is to resist the introduction of digital payments at every step.

Boycott outlets that refuse to take cash, which is already happening in several nations.

You have been warned.

Thank you 🙂

It's really best not to just blindly post Google AI results as fact, especially if you don't know. If you don't know, just don't post - everyone can Google. And it is wrong.

7-Eleven DO NOT accept debit cards of any kind. They also DO NOT accept PromptPat/QR codes.

7-Eleven is the only reason I have to carry cash around and it can be annoying, especially as ATMs are getting fewer and further between.

That's funny.   The burden of cash all these decades that we've had to endure.  And yet, it's a lot lighter, and less hassle than carrying and using my phone.   Along with the perfect place to break that 1000 baht note, so I have small notes for the vendors that only take cash.

Each to their own. I am not anti-cash, I just find it annoying to have to go to ATMs to get it, much easier just to use my phone wherever I am. In the old days nearly every 7-Eleven had an ATM outside, now very few do.

Cash is also filthy dirty so I prefer to stick to digital - it's just way more convenient overall for me.

Oh, and coins are incredibly annoying.

Oh, and coins are incredibly annoying.

I just pop into the bank, every 3rd month, as a requirement, to avoid filing a FBAR.  Once is almost enough for me to have cash for the whole year, if wanting, as we don't spend more than 300k a year.

Cash - filthy dirty ... stop, you're killing me :cheesy:

Technology is fine when it works better than cash like swipe cards .....instant and the card is lightweight.

But too many times in Big C I have been stuck behind someone trying to pay via their phone and making a pigs ear of it until we all get directed to another till while a supervisor is called to sort out the problem.

Not to mention on three occasions when the computers were down and people with full trollys had to go home empty handed because only cash was being accepted.

In reverse is a method used to cause supermarket managers to change their tiny-minds about refusing cash.

Here's how you do it.

Contact all your mates, and fix a time on a busy day to assemble in the car park.

Then with pockets full of cash ONLY, convoy into the outlet, and fill your baskets with what you normally buy.

Assemble at the checkout together and wait for the surly clerk to say we only accept digital payment.

Smile, and call for the Manager.

Politely explain to the manager that you and your mates ONLY have cash, and refuse to  ever use digital payments because of the terrible consequences. (Information about which is readily available to the curious.)

The Manager casts an eye upon a convoy of cash ONLY customers who they are about to lose forever.

The Manager instructs the clerk to accept their cash.

Never failed yet.

Get ready to try it, and retain peace of mind in these Final Exciting Days.

Prepare or Perish.

My plane was delayed today — maybe with intent. Plenty for tourists to see, plenty to eat. But setting the character O in front of CP does not help 🤖 Disclaimer: Not for humans yet. Coverage applies to pigs only:

OCP.png.baaa40eb0ac93b00c0470874f9bf73c1.png

It was tried in Detroit — Hollywood turned it into a success.
Meanwhile, Thailand has no 1000 Baht bill breakers, so staff keep double-counting piles of cash, adding 45 seconds to every queue.
Such machines will never be introduced here — cashless is the preferred future.
Two lanes might help. But with the tiniest feet possible and no smaller notes, OCP still wins.
