Hospital checking visa
Just a comment (without taking sides). In the U.S., we have been conditioned to be sensitive to the privacy issues. We have no issue when immigration officer or an airline employee checks our passport and visa. That is part of their job, and they are required to do that. However, when bank clerks, hospital nurses, hotel desk clerks, and other random people start going through our passports, and walking them out of our sight, and bending them, etc., we cringe. Arguably, it's part of their job as well. But all they have to do is take a look and return the passport. Instead, they often handle it the way that instills doubt whether they will damage it or even lose it. For example, when I opened my SCB account, it took hours. Like, three hours. During that time, the clerk must have opened my passport 20-30 times, and thumbed through it, and bent it backwards, and put a glass of water to keep it open. I just wanted to rip it out of her hands! -
