Hun Sen Threatens Arrest of Thai Leaders Amid Border Dispute

In a dramatic twist, Cambodia's Senate President Hun Sen has threatened to arrest Thai leaders for invading Cambodian territory and causing the deaths of its citizens. This bold statement was made on Hun Sen’s Facebook page, responding to Thailand's legal action threats against him and his son, Prime Minister Hun Manet, over alleged fatal attacks on Thailand.

TThe situation escalated after Phumtham Wechayachai, Thailand's acting Prime Minister, announced that his government plans to pursue both criminal and civil action against the Hun family. Accusing Cambodia of using military force to jeopardise Thai sovereignty and harm its citizens, Phumtham declared, “If found in Thailand, they will be arrested immediately.”

Hun Sen retaliated swiftly, posting, “If Thailand can arrest Cambodian leaders, Cambodia could arrest Thai leaders responsible for killing our citizens.” He criticised Phumtham's diplomatic acumen, remarking that his role as acting PM would soon cease and accusing him of ignorance regarding laws and diplomacy.

Phumtham assumed the acting PM role after Thailand’s Constitutional Court suspended Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, linked to a leaked conversation about border clashes with Hun Sen. Hun Sen questioned whether Thailand's actions aimed to restore trust or provoke further conflict, thereby jeopardising the recent ceasefire.

Further details emerged as Phumtham outlined the government's litigation strategy after a National Security Council meeting. Thai citizens and government bodies affected by the border clashes are invited to submit complaints to Provincial Police Region 3, covering regions like Si Sa Ket, Buri Ram, Surin, and Ubon Ratchathani—areas hit hard by Cambodia during the recent fighting.

This conflict saw thousands of Thai citizens displaced from their homes, reported Thai PBS World.

Phumtham clarified that Thailand intends to limit its legal actions to domestic courts and is not considering international legal proceedings against Cambodia’s leaders.

The tug-of-war between these neighbouring nations now hangs in a delicate balance, with legal and diplomatic repercussions looming on both sides.

This escalating rift underscores the fragile state of Thai-Cambodian relations as both sides brace for potential legal and political fallout.

From border battle to court battle... at least the locals can relax and go back to work and let the idiots sort out the rest

The shins stray across the border accidentally and get arrested and placed in prison that’s music to my ears

Why wouldn't HS make the announcement publicly and officially? Why only on social media? Have their national announcements system gone under?

Because he's strictly playing a publicity game right now. He's not going to stop until Thaksin and his daughter are out and a new PM comes in that allows the scam centers and shuts down the casino bill. The POS doesn't care about his people at all, he'll let them all starve to death before giving up power.

Throwing a tantrum is a kindergartener's way of express displeasure. The grown-up version usually exists only in countries, where face is above everything and that explains the educational superiority of Westerners over the rest of the planet.
Ridiculous and not to be taken serious; if either politician crosses the border and gets arrested - good riddance.

Maybe there is someone out there to smack these misbehaving id10ts called leaders of a country to remind them, what their actual job is ........

Sorry to urinate on your parade, other world leaders have done exactly the same on X, Twitter, Truth Social, etc. This is not unique.

Hasn’t Hun Sens army been planting land mines along the border lately ?
He is a dangerous and  crazy man and not to be trusted. The Thais know this, they’ve had enough proof over the years. Yes, anyone would be worried with such a neighbor. Keep the borders closed and forbid Thais from entering the disputed temples.  For everyone’s safety and to avoid flair ups.

No proof Cambodia planted any mines, if you know otherwise then let us know, but please, provide proof, not just hearsay.

There is an article in the Bangkok Post about this.

Getting desperate now that a phone that Cambodian soldiers left at Phu Makhuea has provided irrefutable evidence of them using illegal mines. It contained a video showing Cambodian soldiers being instructed in how to use the mines, and photos of them actually putting them in the ground (viewable in the link below and in the Youtube video). Woops.

So you can't actually provide any link/proof/etc, which is exactly what I suspected, also what/who was BP's source...oh wait, Thai military...555

That is why I say PROOF.

I didn't say I have proof.  I mentioned where I saw an article about it.  That is, landmines being planted by Cambodian troops.

And I specifically asked for PROOF...do you understand. We have all seen Thai propaganda...every single day, we all know Thai media do not investigate the propaganda, only choose to repeat what their masters dictate.

There aren't any leaders will 50,000 generals do 🤔

What proof would work for you?

Here's your proof:

https://www.dailynews.co.th/news/5033491/

It shows Cambodian soldiers being instructed in how to arm the mines, and photos of them planting the mines in the ground. Since it was taken by a phone, everything is dated. More material was allegedly found on the phone this was on, but everything isn't being shared with the public.

I care, and I'm sure others are also interested.

And, um, you cared enough to have your 2 bobs worth. Perhaps next time you only reply if you really have something to add.

Yawn.

Independently verified, I do not trust either sides propaganda, as yourself this, why would Cambodia place mines on Thai territory....it makes no sense as Thai military is much larger than Cambodia's...as one mine shown by Thailand, still had the safety pin in...
