  • Why? Does it affect you ?  A lot of retirees use agents , as they live on a pension, but they still spend all their money in Thailand, which is good for the economy and their families- here, but you t

Thats not riff raff, thats successful busy investors enjoying life and a meaningful retirement via a combo of Billboard and FKK Sharks with a lot of room service and weed.

Who says that it is "fraud and illegal" if issued by a legitimate IO at a legitimate Immigration Office?

Try to get another extension but without agent after having done the first one with agent and out of province. You'll be told to leave the country and apply for a new visa.

No we´re talking. You´re the man!

Ok, now I can see it´s at least 14 thumbs down, that are floating the visa rules. Hope you get found and deported.

Farang in Thailand are living hand to mouth. Maybe they had money once until their teelak convinced them they could build a house very cheaply on her broz swampland.

Nah, I think you mean flaunting. Nice try though. Any relation to H. Finn?

Well I'm guessing that all the Russians that are here working illegally will soon be moving to vietnam thank god, it's time for change.

So you have evidence that they are all Rif Raf some people use agents as it's more convenient, not having to drive for several hours then stuck in a long line for hours to be told to come back next week, by the way, having 800 k stuck in a single name account cause problems when the holder dies as the bank wont release it to the deceased estate a lawyer has to be brought inj who then has to take it to the courts for a judge to give written authorisation for the bank to release the funds if whoever is looking after your estate is lucky they might get the funds 6 or 9 months later with a bil in excess of 50,000 baht plus i saying this from experience as i was the executer of a friends will the 800 k cannot be held in a joint account and even if your married to a Thai it is still the same rule as the monies belong to the deceased not NOK until the court issues a release letter to the bank

They really need to allow for named beneficiaries.  I can see how this would be a major pain for people who are already stressed and in pain from the loss of a loved one.

Assuming, of course, you aren't "flotsam and/or jetsam" yourself. It's none of our business to make commentary about who should stay and who should go.

I expect that most were Cambodians who are no longer of use for Thailand.

I don't think they're typically on student visas.

"The decision forms part of efforts to crack down on the misuse of student visas by those seeking illegal employment in Thailand."

DTV is next on the chopping block. Guess what those old ED holders gonna do ? Switch to DTV.

This will impact the Indians aged 25y+ getting student visa to work here illegally.

I think what we're seeing - between the recent banking fiascos and account closures involving foreigners and the general immigration tightening - is both a response to the mule accounts by scammers, but also a move on the so-called foreign riff-raff. Throwing down the welcome mat to a foreigner who wants to stay long time but isn't bringing any fiscal impact isn't worth the country's time and effort (immigration, services, health care in government hospitals). I know many (like on this particular thread) say they can live like a Thai and live on a similar budget. Bear in mind a university educated Thai is lucky to be making 40k a month. And in any case, why would Thailand want to go out of its way to welcome in someone who is only going to spend the same amount as a Thai on 20-40k a month? It's just an unneeded hassle that doesn't generate any extra income - a few thousand foreigners eating 5 baht khao nieow and 10 baht moo daeng daily - and the odd Leo dishwater - like many of the 70 million Thais is a zero-sum gain. They (Thailand) don't want more poor people. They have lots already.

Why do you assume these "riff raffs" are only living on 20-40k baht a month? I assume you know the financial requirements are much higher than that, 65k and 800k, and a lot of foreigners may be just under that threshold, and will use an agent to be able to live full time in Thailand.

Foreigners spending 50-65k a month in Thailand, or even a lot more, just choosing to not keep 800k in a bank, are contributing a lot to the Thai society. They might even buy a condo, a car or a motorbike.

Your post makes no sense to me.

Lol. You know every farang in Thailand, do you.

Don't confuse other farangs with yourself.

Lol. Deported by the same immigration that actually ALLOWS this to happen?

Dream on. This is a too lucrative business for them to stop their practice. It won't change the next decades.

Keep LOL-ing.

Or simply put money in the bank to avoid being deported.... or departed.

And President Trump had nothing to do with it. 🤠 They got the idea all on their own. :stoner:

This is from the Thai Immigration Act. So long as you didn't pay more than 2000 baht as at (3) for your Extension of stay as per regulations specified and 'discretion' exercised by the competent official in Section 35, it is legal.image.png.5508a45b41100d3f4d7c4bebc56890f4.png

I know that very well. However, they do select a few every year. Next time it might be that person that feels safe and laugh about it that they make an example out of just for show. Still, it will hurt same much.

of course and if anyone interferes with the gravy train they are got rid of.... Big Joke for example.

Why do bods on this forum obsessed with how others do their extensions keep banging on about Laws...

Everyone knows they are just  - guidelines..

On this and similar topics persons often write that nothing will change because it is too lucrative and there is too much money in it.

Which is why, if anything is to change, it will likely come from the Revenue Department, not internal to the RTP

That'll never happen as those programs involve brown envelopes "under the table."
