  • A lot of them available in Pattaya apparently.

  • Storm in a teacup. This storm has been hanging around off the coast of Vietnam for days now. Granted it's a big 'un but I think it will do as they all do an peeter out once it makes landfall.

  • You should do some planting. Maybe it will keep you off the forum for some hours every day - that's a good thing! Some fresh air and exercise.

The banana plants will soon be suffering if this incessant rain keeps up, and causes flooding.

Send it to Buriram desert please. I had been hoping to catch the remnant edge of that storm whatever but as yet......nothing

The storm surge from that hurricane might have been about FIVE MILES, perhaps, TOPS.

And, as you know, maybe you might NOT know....

Chiang Mai is about...

I guess we won't have no tsunamis anytime soon.

Have you ever visited CM?

Very far from the coast....

Believe me....

NOT like the areas in NC...hit by Helene....

BY A LOOOONG SHOT.....

Storm surge now? The badly affected areas in NC suffered heavy rain, followed by disastrous flooding and  mud slides.

Asheville is about 400 km from the Atlantic, sits at 2200' elevation and is surrounded by mountains up to 6600' tall.  It got hammered by Helene.

Helen.

Is she one of the old oares people have been talking about?

Might get a good soaking over the next couple of days.  Always can use the rain.

I get 105 on a good day. Stormy, who knows.

Yes. That is what I said.

Here are some images/vids

Storm surge can affect rivers far upstream.....

Important Note:  I don't know too much about North Carolina, other than, most importantly, North Carolina is/has-been one of the biggest suppliers of coal, and also tobacco. And, NC has a large population of global warming deniers.  Bunch of dumb hillbillies, many of them.   As to flash flooding deaths in NC, then the people need to move away from areas which are affected by flash-flooding, including rivers and the flood plains adjacent to rivers.

Here in Chiang Mai, however, we have not had as much rain as I had expected, although we have had quite a bit of rain.  At the moment, just a steady drizzle, and a few birds poking holes in my lawn.  The bird really love the rain, maybe due to the extra grubs worms whatever that the rain forces to the surface....IDK...because I am not a bird.

As usual.

AND, as usual, it will be the water, not the high winds, which cause most havoc.

This will be my 45th Typhoon, even though, where I am, this is sort of a non-typhoon.

It will be the rain, the everlasting rain, that makes us worry....especially if this cyclone does not get on the move.

Speaking of Typhoons....

I recall that we would have tea with Typhoon Sugar on Toast, during any decent typhoon, in Hong Kong.....

And many bars and restaurants offer ( offered?) Special Typhoon "specials" like 2 for 1 drinks, large discounts etc ( not on take- away ladies) to anyone brave enough to venture out during a Signal 8 (most venues, govt offices, schools, and some public transport close or a shut down if No.8 or 10  is 'hoisted'.)

But the Met Bureau signals (hoisted flags in the past colonial days) are based on wind speeds.

Rain warnings (yellow, red, black) are another matter.

Dribble. Your links contain references to storm surges affecting the Florida keys not NC, where major flooding is correctly described..

You meant drizzle, no doubt.

Anyway, you will never be satisfied with any reply.

Why not post your credentials for all to see?

How much atmospheric chemistry have you studied at uni?

Maybe you can lecture me on the storms of Venus.

What are your projections for the next decade in CM?

When will we hit 2.0?

Are you in any way concerned we will hit 450 by 2030?

Postnominals already given. I showed you mine so it's your turn.

I did mean dribble, just like this latest offering of yours.

Come on. Stump up.
