Just curious. My overseas bank asks for proof of residence.

Bank Statement would be one if it has address. If not I guess I can ask them to mail it.

Just got frustrated at Imm. they said they cannot give me a Certificate of Residence for that purpose.

I can play them at their own game by going to LTD and getting a request for the purpose of a new driving license. But bank Statement would be nicer as they have AC and I don't need a driving license until Nov. but I would like proof of address before Nov.

This is a fun conundrum as I don't have much else pressing.

Can't you use a utilities bill?

But yes, for Bangkok Bank anyway, if you request a statement (200 baht) it shows your address.

^ Cheers.

Utility Bill would be in the wife's name. Her house.  I'll go for lunch, have one beer less. and then go to the bank. A statement would also confirm my local account is real. Restaurant owners sister is a lawyer so I'll also talk to here about a rubber stamp!

This all down to this part of the world being a money laundering hub.

^ OK. Makes sense There is not much money in mine so sending it out for translation work wont be a worry.

Your Thai bank statement will have whatever address on it that you used to open your account with, unless you have changed your address on the bank account or still live at the same place.

If it's a normal monthly statement that you can request online or through mobile....

Bangkok, L&H bank, Krungsri and SCB do NOT show address.  Kasikorn does.

Various other documents will probably be accepted by your overseas bank.

Pension statement, income tax docs come to mind.

If from USA and collecting SS, your benefit letter shows address.

Yes. So you have to request a statement at the branch.

Less than 6 months bank on the spot.

Also contains stamp and signature.

Nothing less than that for official use (like immigration).

Agreed statement  address is in Thai script.

However, I've just been through the process of getting a bank statement from Bangkok Bank showing the address in English.
Originally my branch reverted to their standard fall back position of chanting the cannot, cannot, cannot mantra. I think this is their standard response to anything that takes them out of their comfort zone.
Anyway, rather than engage in fruitless argument, I phoned their helpline on 1333 the following morning.  A short but friendly conversation followed and within less than an hour my branch had phoned me back to say that they could produce a statement for me as I requested in English.
