Me as well, when the only foreigners you saw were Americans and Australians, then the Europeans discovered paradise - now I am talking 60’s-70’s, I was a young pup then.    The US Army even had an NCO Club in Na Klua, soldiers got tanked on 15 cent beer, 25 cent whiskey during happy hour then head downtown for fun & games.  Ship visits were a lot of fun as well.
