A large number of Thais have wanted legalization for quite some time but that wasn't the issue thats your deflecting from the question you were asked.

Then post the proofs of the majority of thais wanted legalization of cannabis and recreational use of weed

People can do whatever they want. Not my business. But they must also take the consequences if they get caught smoking weed in a country where its not legal. To say in court that alcohol is making more problems want help anything.

Yet another gem of anti-weed nonsense. I wonder how many more idiotic posts like this we’re going to have to suffer through? Prolly endless. Funny how weed smokers are usually chill and mind their own business, but being around a drunk is one of the worst experiences imaginable. Unless of course she’s only had a couple and she’s riding reverse cowgirl, in which case, carry on.

Try to smoke weed at night in Australia, and get stopped the next day, driving, you will be walking home.

Back in college I smoke almost every day when it was around.  If it wasn't around, I didn't smoke.  So much for the addiction trope.  Cannabis isn't addictive.

All the weed smokers on here will defend it.

Maybe it hasn't affected you negatively, but for some people it doesn't seem to be as harmless.

I went out last night and I saw nothing but signs like this one everywhere.

Most people are born with a sense of common sense, and among weed smokers, not so much.

It is just about common sense, nothing else

Don't post asking for opinions and voting if you cant deal with the a replies you get. Its not a smart look and certainly displays a lack of common sense.

It is illegal in OZ if you get stopped for an alcohol or drug test and you are detected for anything, you are walking home, no peeing on a stick, just a swipe on your tongue or blow over .05, you are walking home. And it depends on how much you are over the limit; you lose your licence on the spot and have to go to court.

If someone is sitting in another country obsessing over foreigners smoking cannabis in Thailand from the other side of the world, then they really need to take a deep hard look at themselves. Who would let their own mind ruminate over some minutia that is so trivial like this? Plus, what people choose to do on their holidays for their own pleasure is not anyone else’s concern, and it is certainly not worth the petulant posts, the whining, or the histrionic polls that are now being spammed on the forum about it. Honestly, the way someone is fixated on this says far more about them than it does about those who are on holiday are enjoying themselves. Perhaps instead of proselytizing against strangers who are on vacation, they should consider why this issue burrows so deeply under their skin and consumes them beyond reason. It sounds like what is really needed here is not a public forum for support but a therapeutic intervention to help sort things out.

By the time the person wakes up and drives the next day, any over the limit amount of alcohol will be gone, and if they suspect weed use, they'll have to bring them in for a blood test, so it matters how the person was acting during the stop. They can conduct the normal field sobriety tests and if they happen to fail, can bring them to the police station for more, so it again, depends on how they act when pulled over. How they were driving is the reason some might get pulled over. Smoking at night, unless it's  close to the time they're driving, 6 hours or less, isn't going to have them impaired for driving. 8 hours or more sleeping and they'll be fine.

Do they pee test every single driver who gets pulled over?

A blood test is never ever issued to somebody to check for cannabis intoxication while they're driving on the road because the typical cannabis blood tests are not quantitative, they only show positive or negative for THC.

Cannabis can also sometimes be detected in the blood for up to two months after last usage. So there's absolutely no point in testing somebody to see if they are driving under the influence of cannabis. It's inconclusive.

That's true, as much of the laws regarding marijuana in the system are still in the development stage. I retract my statement as it should have been kept under the alcohol usage and not weed. Weed does stay a long time and isn't a reason for a blood test as the testing for amount in the system isn't initiated into the laws yet everywhere, although  some states do have fluid tests as this link shows.........https://journalistsresource.org/health/marijuana-driving/.

and urine tests do not even detect THC     rather they detect non psychoactive metabolites,   again for up to several months after consumption....   Nothing more than an intrusive lifestyle check

All,traffic stops require a drug test ?  I meant how would they know you had smoked a joint the night before when you wouldn't be high the next day.

Alcohol is not a substance to keep you from going barking mad?

What is it then?

Taking the moral high ground because you drink wine and don't smoke weed? Gimme a break, dude.

Not sure if you can quantify the most dangerous.

A lot of drunk driving, wife beating involves alcohol.

All drugs seem to negatively affect 5-10% of the population.

If you ban them completely, you are saving that 5-10%, but maybe depriving the other 90% who it doesn't cause much harm to.

No easy solutions.

People need to take responsibility for their own lives.

Weed is the most dangerous, because people think it is not dangerous. At best, weed makes you a loser. At worst, it completely ruins your life and not even your family can help

Here is a few sober articles about the industry in Thailand if you bother to read. And I have never said alchohol is anything better, and this tread is not about alcohol even some constantly want to compare two different substances where one have been heavily controlled for centuries in most countries. No other legal substance have been controlled more than alcohol and still legal and available for most.

why you so annoyed?? Do you smoke weed?

And another reminder to you, recreational use of cannabis is still illegal even most here think it is.

Show us how many centuries weed has been banned in some countries if you can? Its been uncontrolled longer than controlled in most all countries in the world as were most natural substances

Struggling to follow you on this one @Hummin

Seems more like a mad rant than a sensible discussion.

Accusing people en masse of being responsible for possible recriminalisation.

Not unlike the extreme right wingers here that see everyone else as being on the Left.

You need to find balance or your thinking will do you in.
