2 years ago when travelling in France, I never have seen so many Audi's stopped at the emergency break down lanes. Also saw a few Mercs and some Bmw's too. The Made in Germany in only for the label as most of the assembly of these so-called Made in Germany cars are now done in East Europe.

if not outright finished, it seems to be headed for some sort of huge fracture. I think it will take time and many phases of change before we can say it is gone.

 

I suppose an analogy would be the Roman Empire. It transitioned to the Holy Roman Empire, no longer including Rome in its territories, and so on.

It was, in theory, not a bad idea but in practice it is a terrible idea.
