Police in Bangkok have arrested a man accused of fatally stabbing a condominium security guard in the city’s Huai Khwang district in the early hours of the 6 September.

The victim, identified as Mr Somdet, a private security officer in his late 30s, was found with multiple knife wounds outside the entrance of the condominium where he worked. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

Initial witness reports described the attacker as a short-haired man with a tattoo on his right arm, wearing a black T-shirt with a cannabis motif and blue jeans. He was seen fleeing in a black Isuzu vehicle.

Following an intensive investigation, officers from Sutthisan Police Station tracked down and arrested the suspect, identified only as “Pop”. He was detained along with clothing believed to have been worn during the attack, a knife matching the murder weapon and the vehicle used in his escape.

During questioning, the suspect reportedly confessed to the killing. Police have charged him with carrying a weapon in public without reasonable cause and with murder.

Pol Lt Col Ekachisit Meesuk, deputy inspector at Sutthisan Police Station, confirmed that the suspect has been handed over to investigators for legal proceedings.
