Supreme Court Greenlights More LA Immigration Raids

The US Supreme Court has ruled that intense immigration raids in Los Angeles can proceed, overturning a previous block by a federal judge. This decision favours US President Donald Trump, who promised aggressive deportations for those in the US illegally.

The 6-3 ruling permits Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to detain individuals based on race, language, or occupation, as a legal dispute over these actions unfolds. Liberal justices criticised the ruling, suggesting it jeopardises constitutional rights. Justice Brett Kavanaugh stated the lower court's restrictions were excessive, while Justice Sonia Sotomayor warned of the indignities faced by many in Los Angeles.

The White House hailed the ruling, reaffirming its goal to deport "criminal illegal aliens.". However, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom condemned it as threatening and un-American.

This decision reverses US District Judge Maame E Frimpong's order, which cited evidence of constitutional violations. The judge had previously halted the raids, citing concerns over racially based detentions and questioning.

Legal opposition, led by immigration advocacy groups, charged that ICE’s methods amounted to indiscriminate patrols denying legal rights. Judge Frimpong noted inconsistencies with the Fourth Amendment, which guards against unreasonable government searches and seizures.

The Supreme Court, however, implied that the raids could ultimately be deemed constitutional, guiding future legal proceedings. Homeland Security officials claim targeting is based on legal status rather than race or ethnicity and disagree with the limits imposed on ICE.

Initially launched in June, the raids hit various workplaces, sparking protests and unrest. Trump’s deployment of troops for control was later ruled illegal, though he dismissed this as interference with presidential authority, reported the BBC.

The decision comes as Trump intensifies law enforcement measures across the US, eyeing similar initiatives in Washington DC and possibly Chicago. The controversial raids continue to polarise, with debates about legality and human rights intensifying amid ongoing scrutiny.

I get frustrated seeing the left celebrate every time an activist judge throws a temporary restraining order  at the Trump administration’s immigration plans, but the Scotus recent decision in Los Angeles shows their activist overreach isn’t etched in stone. Now that ICE can finally enforce federal law again in California ,laws that Congress passed many years ago,I can smile again ,knowing someone is fighting  for Federal law & order.

Yes, agreed, but the Supreme Court’s decision on September 8, 2025, only lifted the TRO, meaning the underlying lawsuit (Vasquez Perdomo v. Noem) continues. A federal district court was set to hear arguments on September 24, 2025, for a preliminary injunction, which could lead to further judicial clashes.

ICE can finally enforce federal law

Federal law is supposed to comply with the Constitution on Right to Due Process and Equality of all People's within the US.

SCOTUS has confirmed such rights no longer exist; therefore federal laws cease to exist.

Ever see all those shelves of lawbooks behind the TV and interweb lawyers?  Those are there because constitutional law isn't as simple as some posters would like to think it is.  It's complicated, and based on thousands of cases establishing precedents and millions of pages of opinions and historical rulings.

They're getting all the due process prescribed by laws.  You may not agree, but I'll bet you haven't read many of those books, and don't have the educational background to know what they mean.  Don't feel bad.  I often disagree and I freely admit that I haven't read many either.

I never understood why I could be pulled over in the '80s and why I was subject to inspection upon arrival in the '90s when I started traveling international.  But, them's the rules.  So is the fact that illegals overstaying or violating a visa exempt entry can just be ordered out, with no recourse and no appearance before a judge.  It's been that way forever, like it or not.

The 6-3 ruling

Says it all.

Never fear, the Democrats are here. They will utilize their abuse of the justice system any way that they see fit to attack Trumps policies. Thank goodness clearer heads are dismissing those cases in the courts.

But be sure, the Dems will not back down and will be filing another politically motivated justice case against Trump and his admin to make you forget they lost this one.

Federal law supersedes state law, and "sanctuary" states and cities that defy federal law are guilty of insurrection.

Due process rights are not being infringed on. Illegal aliens that have deportation orders against them, have already had all the due process they are entitled to.

While illegal aliens are entitled to due process, they are not entitled to the same level of due process as citizens.

And no, the Constitution does not guaranty equality of all "people's" within the US. Did you hear that on Romper Room?

Non-Americans that know nothing about our Constitution but pretend they do, get a bit tiresome here.

Hear!  Here!  I second that statement.
