Police in Nan province are investigating a fatal assault that left one man dead and another seriously injured following a drinking session that turned violent. The incident took place on 9 September at a home in Ban Sakad Tai, Village 3, Sakad Subdistrict, Pua District. Officers confirmed the victim, a 60-year-old man identified as Mr Suk, died at the scene from head and neck injuries.

Pol Lt Col Jirawat Kongta of Pua Police Station received the alert from Nan’s 191 radio centre and led a team of investigators, forensic officers, doctors from Somdej Phra Yupparat Pua Hospital, and rescue volunteers to the scene. They found Mr Suk lying on his side between the kitchen and main house entrance. He had suffered severe head wounds caused by a wooden stick.

A second victim, Mr Udomsak or “Joe”, aged 35, was taken to Somdej Phra Yupparat Pua Hospital with head and body injuries. Police reported that both men had been attacked during the same incident. The wooden stick used in the assault was recovered as evidence.

Later, police detained Mr Krittipong or “Ek”, 41, also from Village 3, who had been injured during the altercation and treated at the same hospital. During questioning, he confessed to striking both men with the stick after becoming frustrated with their ongoing argument. He admitted to starting the assault while they were drinking together, claiming he was annoyed by their repeated quarrelling over a motorcycle running out of fuel.

Neighbours told police that the three men were known as regular drinking companions who frequently argued but had not previously resorted to violence. On the day of the incident, the group began drinking in the afternoon of 8 September and continued into the night. At one point, the deceased and the injured man reportedly rode a motorcycle to buy more alcohol, ran out of fuel and sought help from Pua Police Station before returning to resume drinking.

Police have charged Mr Krittipong with murder, attempted murder and causing serious injury. He remains in custody at Pua Police Station while further investigations continue. Officers are preparing to send the case to prosecutors for formal proceedings.

Yeah, but Mr. Ek has a very valid reason to kill.

Seems like stupidity is spreading quicker by the minute.
