London Protests: Rival Anti-Migrant and Anti-Racist Demos Draw Thousands

 

 

London braced for major disruption on Saturday as thousands of protesters and counter-protesters descended on the capital for rival demonstrations.

 

Right-wing activist Tommy Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, led a "Unite the Kingdom" march starting near Waterloo Bridge before heading to Whitehall. The rally, draped in Union Jacks and England flags, is expected to honor U.S. conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, who was shot dead earlier this week. Photographs of Kirk and flags bearing his image were seen among the crowds.

 

Speakers at the event include far-right figures such as French politician Eric Zemmour, German AfD MP Petr Bystron, commentator Katie Hopkins, and Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson. Robinson urged attendees to avoid violence, alcohol, and masks, calling the rally “the UK’s biggest free speech festival.”

At the opposite end of Whitehall, anti-racist campaigners from Stand Up To Racism are staging a counter-demonstration under the banner “March Against Fascism.”

 

The Metropolitan Police confirmed 1,600 officers are being deployed, with 1,000 assigned to the marches and another 600 covering other high-profile events, including multiple London football matches. Police have erected barriers to separate the groups and warned the public about severe traffic delays and crowded Tube services.

 

Scotland Yard emphasized that live facial recognition technology, controversially used at the Notting Hill Carnival, will not be deployed.

 

Early images showed crowds forming in central London, waving Union Jacks and American flags. Robinson, 42, claimed “football lads are coming from everywhere” but insisted: “This is not a time for riots… we have to control ourselves.”

Aww, I remember the good old days of the CND, poll tax, and anti-Iraq war marches - proper marches which drew hundreds of thousands not just a few thousand, and still achieved 'not much' (apart from hastening Thatcher's departure).

Any evidence of that is at best anecdotal as far as I can tell. That it has gained traction however is quite a good indicator of just how far the Police Force have sunk in popular esteem - inevitably given the way in which they have been used to feed a partisan judicial system.

 

An oft quoted statement (boast) is that in the UK the police "police with the consent of the public they serve". They are losing/have lost that with their reaction to recent demonstrations and events.

The world owes a debt of gratitude to Musk and DOGE for revealing how our tax dollars were (are?) being funneled into despicable programs.  Even if they weren't a significant percentage of the US budget, they were doing damage way beyond the dollar amounts.

Depending on where you read about the number of attendees at that get together, the number of anti brits pretty big. 

 

More like a range of 22 brits to anti brits or up to 600 brits to anti brits.  

 

I have read numbers of brits against immigration of about 100,000 by the major media, to another organization claiming there were more than 3,000,000 that attended.   The anti brits, only 5000! 

 

I have also read that the anti brits were offered free tickets on public transport to attend the anti demonstration and there were complaints that not enough anti demonstrators took up the free tickets to attend!
