A 30-year-old woman died after her motorcycle collided with the rear of a parked 18-wheel truck on Phetkasem Road in Phatthalung province on 12 September 2025. The incident occurred at 22:45 in Ban Som Treed, Muang district, prompting police and rescue teams from Phatthalung Hospital and volunteer groups to respond immediately.

The victim, Rungtawan, a resident of Na Thom subdistrict, was returning home from her shift at a petrol station amid heavy rain. She was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was riding a red-and-black Honda Wave motorcycle with registration from Phatthalung. The truck involved had registration from Bangkok for the tractor and from Songkhla for the trailer.

Police investigations indicate the truck was parked on the roadside without hazard lights. Neighbouring residents criticised the truck driver for obstructing traffic and failing to use any signals, noting that two previous fatalities had occurred at the same location under similar circumstances. Authorities documented the scene for further investigation.

The incident raises renewed safety concerns about vehicles parked on busy roads without proper warning. Locals called for stricter enforcement of parking and signalling regulations to prevent further incidents. Police will continue their inquiry to determine if any legal action will be taken against the truck operator.
