A fire broke out at Wat Ratchasingkhon pier in Bangkok’s Bang Kho Laem district on the evening of 14 September 2025, destroying two passenger boats on the Chao Phraya River. Another vessel moored at the pier also caught fire but was brought under control. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

The incident was first reported at 18:43 via the emergency hotline 199, alerting Rama Radio Centre. Fire and rescue teams from Yannawa station and special water operations units were dispatched. By the time they arrived at 18:49, the boats were ablaze and drifting in the river.

At 18:53, officials confirmed that one additional boat at the pier had been extinguished, but two vessels in the river were burning heavily. Firefighters worked to contain the blaze, with thick smoke visible across the Chao Phraya. After 30 minutes the flames on the two boats had been largely controlled, though further risks remained.

Responders deployed foam after discovering a significant fuel slick in the water, which threatened to possibly reignite the fire. Damage assessments and investigations into the cause are underway.

No passengers or crew were found to be on board and no injuries were recorded. Officials confirmed that only property damage occurred, with two vessels destroyed and one partially damaged. The incident highlights ongoing fire safety challenges in passenger transport along Bangkok’s main waterway. Further investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the fire and evaluate safety measures at Chao Phraya River piers.
