In Buri Ram province, police seized nearly 100 modified motorcycles on Sunday, September 14, targeting illegal street convoys and unregistered vehicles. The convoy, identified as the Phor Piang motorcycle group, was halted in Ban Dan district while traveling to Thung Kula Rong Hai in Surin province under the guise of a conservation-themed ride. Authorities noted illegal modifications and lack of proper documentation, including absent registration and tax stickers.

The operation was led by orders from Police Major General Narongsak Promtha, commander of Buri Ram Provincial Police, in a broader effort to curtail youth gangs and modified motorcycle groups causing public disturbances. The convoy, which commenced at 6 am from Nakhon Ratchasima, took a route bypassing Buri Ram city to avoid detection but was stopped by traffic police in Ban Dan district.

Police Colonel Anon Lekdee stated that all seized vehicles will undergo thorough inspection. Those with proper documentation will be returned, while others will be impounded. Guardians will be informed about riders under 18, emphasizing the operation's legal framework aimed at preserving public order rather than intimidating motorcycle enthusiasts.

This crackdown echoes a similar operation in June 2025, when police in Sattahip, Chon Buri impounded hundreds of illegally modified motorcycles during a long weekend operation. Complaints about noise and disturbances around Nang Ram Beach led to a focus on violations such as illegal exhausts and missing license plates. The authorities stressed the legal basis of the actions, underscoring their focus on public safety and order.

Key Takeaways

  • Nearly 100 modified motorcycles were seized in Buri Ram for illegal modifications and lack of documentation.
  • The crackdown targets youth gangs and aims to maintain public order without harassment.
  • A similar operation in 2025 in Sattahip focused on noise complaints and illegal bike modifications.

I'd PAY the police to get the noisy motorcycles off the road in my area.  It's a bloody nightmare when these monkeys think they can ride around with impunity.

Yes.  The noise pollution is getting quite bad.   I don't think it's any one area.  It's everywhere.

Then for the Thai people's health - these noisy motorbikes damage sleep & nerves - the Thailand national police should be clearing the entire country of this menace.  It's a no-brainer and something the police force could quite easily do to immediately improve the country.

Sounds like most 17 year olds......anywhere.

I didn't give a sh!t at that age either.

I've been married to a Thai lady for 25 years, she comes from a large family up north. The main problem with teenage boys in Thailand is their mums and dads go to work sometimes a very long way from home. Pornchai is left to live with his granny and she spoils him so much he hasn't got any idea what discipline is as he's never been brought into line. On the other hand my step daughter is married to a Thai Chinese guy and he really disciplines his son sometimes a bit to much. Most times there's no bad kids, it's the parents who never teach their kids what's right. Pattaya is full of out of control young guys, who come from the country supposedly looking for work, they meet guys like themselves get on the booze/drugs so that's the end of them going to work
