A 21-year-old cannabis vendor from Pattaya has filed a complaint at Bang Lamung Police Station, alleging that a group of highway police officers extorted all his money before releasing him without means to return home. The incident reportedly took place in the early hours of 17 September on the exit lanes off Motorway 7.

At 02:20 on 17 September, the complainant, identified as Mr. Khemoudom, known as “Bun,” went to Bang Lamung Police Station in tears to accuse four to five highway police officers of misconduct. He said he was stopped, handcuffed and taken to a dark roadside area after officers found cannabis photos on his mobile phone and a cannabis pod. According to his statement, one officer struck him on the head with a torch during the encounter.

Mr. Khemoudom alleged that three to four more officers joined the search, surrounding him and taking his black shoulder bag containing 31,350 baht in cash. He said the officers initially demanded 100,000 baht for his release, later reducing it to 50,000 baht, but ultimately seized every banknote in his possession. He claimed even his request to keep 1,000 baht for fuel was ignored, leaving him stranded with no money to return home.

He further alleged that after taking his cash, the officers drove off with his cannabis pod, saying it was confiscated as evidence, but openly indicated they would use it themselves. He added that he could clearly identify each of the police officers involved, including the licence plate numbers and side markings of their patrol cars, although he did not know their names or ranks.

The duty officer at Bang Lamung Police Station accepted the complaint and has launched an investigation. Police said they will work to identify the accused highway officers and take legal action if the claims are proven.

Well done that man  - although maybe fake cops ?

If they were real, let us hope these guys are quickly sacked and punished for their crimes, nothing more despicable than a corrupt bullying police force.

He needs to buy an Invisibility Cloak soon.  These are available at any Pattaya police station.

If this guy is telling the truth he needs to get well away from Chonburi asap as he maybe a victim of a

heart attack ( 2 slugs in the back of the neck )

Genuine police officers would never behave in such a manner... Clearly fake Police operating this scam....

... Or at least, this is what the conclusion will be.... it always is whenever the Police are accused of wrong doing in such a manner unless there is overwhelming evidence to the contrary...

Fortunately, such shakedowns are extremely rare...

Well the usual line is transferred to  an inactive post, not much of a change for many of them.

Except the newbies don't get to share in the monthly swag until they've proved their  'worth'.
