Ford Fiesta Timing Belt

Featured Replies

Has anybody here had the timing belt of a Ford Fiesta replaced in Thailand?  What was the cost, either dealer or independent shop?

A friend is considering buying a 2010 Fiesta from a neighbor.  He is aware of the many Fiesta pitfalls including transmission and dual-clutch but the price is low and the car clearly well cared for. Just past the 125km mark so a timing belt is due and he will need to figure that into the price he wants to pay.

It is a 2-3 hour job. Not sure how much the timing belt kit is but expect a bill of around 4- 6000 baht. Maybe more at the dealer or extra if they change the water pump.

Have a look on Lazada  for the exact  engine/model   number  timing belt

I expect it will be quite cheap  have an independent  mechanic change it

for probably about the same price.

I paid (Toyota Soluna) less than 3000 all in  belt , tension pully/bearing   + labour of a friendly neighbourhood mechanic.

I had a timing belt , water pump changed on a 1600 Focus at the main Ford dealer in Phichit, in June 23, with a new fanbelt, pulley's and fresh coolant, cost nearly 10k baht.

About half of the cost if I'd been in the UK.

If it's a wet belt, change it immediately.

Not a chance it has a wet belt. Ecoboost came in 2013-14, 1.0 only on the Fiesta.

If it was a 120k miler Ecoboost that's never had the belt, I wouldn't bother. The engine is scrap. Cheaper to let it fail.

My friend did buy the car, only 50k baht. He had the timing belt done along with water pump, pullies, all in B8000. Also put another 10K into suspension upgrades. He found a very nice set of 4 barely used Michelins for 5000.  Once he drove it around for a week to make sure all was well, he drove it to his full-time home in Khon Kaen.  It has the 5-speed manual transmission and he's having a lot of fun exploring local roads.  He already has an unbreakable CR-V as his family car.

Thanks for all the helpful input.
