Pol Maj Gen Pongsayam Meekhantong, Deputy Commissioner of the Tourist Police, has conducted a security inspection of key locations in Hat Yai, Songkhla, to reinforce tourist confidence. The visit included Hat Yai Airport and popular attractions, where he urged police officers to strengthen measures protecting both residents and visitors. The initiative aims to ensure safety in areas with high tourist activity and to promote effective communication channels with travellers.

On 18 September 2025, Pol Maj Gen Pongsayam visited Hat Yai Tourist Police Station 1, where he was welcomed by Pol Lt Col Sakdanan Khamsai, the station chief. During the meeting, he issued policy guidance and distributed morale-boosting supplies to officers. He instructed the force to intensify protection of lives and property, particularly in major tourist zones drawing large crowds.

At 13:00 the same day, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the Hat Yai Municipal Park cable car on Khao Kho Hong hill. He met tourists using the facility and reviewed its safety standards. He also encouraged wider promotion of the Thailand Tourist Police Application and the Tourist Police hotline 1155, stressing the importance of making these services accessible to international and domestic visitors.

His inspection followed an earlier visit to Hat Yai International Airport on 17 September at 18.10. There, he reviewed operations with airport-based tourist police and urged closer coordination with the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, military police and airport staff. He instructed officers to enhance security monitoring both inside and outside the passenger terminal to build trust among travellers.

The series of inspections reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen Thailand’s image as a safe travel destination. Authorities emphasised the importance of proactive security, efficient communication tools, and visible police presence to reassure visitors. These measures are expected to support tourism recovery by reinforcing confidence in Hat Yai as a welcoming and secure location.
