Guava Molecule Potential Against Liver Cancer

Researchers at the University of Delaware have discovered a cost-effective way to recreate a natural molecule from guava plants that shows strong potential against liver cancer.

The study, published in Angewandte Chemie, introduces a new synthetic pathway that allows scientists to produce the anticancer compound in large quantities without relying on limited natural resources.

Liver and bile duct cancers are among the fastest-growing causes of cancer deaths worldwide, with low survival rates and high treatment costs. In the United States alone, over 42,000 new cases of liver cancer are expected in 2025, with more than 30,000 projected deaths. Current therapies are expensive, and late-stage cases have survival rates of less than 15%.

The breakthrough by Professor William Chain and his team uses total synthesis, a method of building complex molecules from simple, widely available chemicals. This approach ensures global researchers can reproduce the guava-derived compound affordably, encouraging collaboration and innovation in cancer research.

Doctoral student Liam O’Grady, lead author of the study, noted that while their work provides the “first paved road,” other scientists can now build upon it, finding more efficient routes to the same goal. The team is also working with the National Cancer Institute to test whether this compound could be effective against other forms of cancer.

If successful, this development could reshape liver cancer treatment by making therapies more accessible and affordable worldwide, potentially saving thousands of lives each year.

Key Takeaways:

University of Delaware chemists developed a synthetic pathway to reproduce a guava molecule with anticancer properties.

The method offers a low-cost, scalable solution for liver cancer treatment research.

Findings may lead to global collaboration and cheaper, more effective therapies.

Why not just eat guava, they are better than the apples you buy here, and are easy to grow.

Probably always better to eat the whole food source .... but since it's high in carbs, will need to factor it into your daily carb intake to avoid weight gain.

My problem is stopping weight loss due to physical work. Weight gain would be good for me but not possible.

There is no doubt that the medical mafia industry does not want to find a cure for cancer. The trillions that have been spent on research, and has been thrown at this disease, and the closest we've come is highly directed radiation in the past 40 years? Really?

The lack of progress is stunning and has to be deliberate.

Yeah, I think so too.

So when Trump is cutting back on cancer research, it's probably money being squandered anyway.

But not to turn this into a Trump thread, it's about cancer research probably being very corrupt.

Are you saying the whole world's medical resources are dodging a cure for cancer, every single country....?   :whistling:

Sometimes you may need a very high dose of a particular molecule to treat a condition, which is impossible to get through food.

So the supplement is more practical.

bile duct cancer ... never even heard of it

My Brother has to have his Bile Duct scraped couple times a year, it gets clogged, but they have told him it was not cancerous……….he is strictly a meat & potatoes man, could be his diet Hey??

My understanding is more generalized longevity / anti aging research is being funded by private billionaires, not governments.

Probably the anti aging hacks -- if they succeed -- will include the cure for cancer.

But it might come from private billionaires before governments. Whether it's a deliberate conspiracy or just a bunch of bumbling idiots with bureaucracy mismanaging public funds .... I don't know.

personally, I go on iHerb to see if they have something to try to avoid these invasive medical procedures.

although I have never had this issue.

I am not diagnosing. I am simply telling you what I would consider if I had this problem.

Is it possible he is not producing enough bile? In that case, a bile supplement might help.

Or a Liver-Gallbladder cleanse might help.

Or just keep doing the scraping if it makes you feel more comfortable.

Or both? Ask your doctor if the bile supplement would cause problems?

Thank You, it is extremely invasive procedure, he can’t eat for days before or after the operations, has to drink this milky stuff.  It is Gall Bladder related.

That is done actually by all citrus fruits "sour" and "bitter".

Just did an AI search for you.

Maybe adding more fruit to the diet will do the trick.

Fruits appear to stimulate bile production and bile flow.

Guava is mentioned here ...

Yes, a diet rich in fruits, particularly fiber-rich and citrus varieties, is helpful for creating and maintaining bile flow and supporting liver health. Fruits like lemons, oranges, raspberries, and guava can stimulate bile production and the flow of bile, while the fiber in other fruits helps digestion and reduces the risk of gallstones. A low-fat, high-fiber diet is generally recommended for gallbladder health, making fruits a beneficial part of a healthy diet.

How Fruits Help
  • Stimulate Bile Production:
Citrus fruits like lemons and oranges contain organic acids and are thought to stimulate the liver, promoting healthy bile production and flow.

  • Promote Bile Flow:
Fiber-rich fruits, such as berries, help speed up digestion and ensure food moves quickly through the intestines, which helps bile flow more easily.

Well that's a good reasonable question. I think certainly every major nation's CDC, FDA and any organization affiliated with the Big Pharma mafia, including the WHO, are most definitely dodging a cure for cancer. Come on, how hard is this? How much money has been thrown at this thing and for how many decades?

Please. You can't convince me that multiple cures haven't been found and suppressed. This industry generates how many hundreds of billions of dollars annually?

An old friend of mine had stage 4 prostate cancer and the doctors basically said it was too late there was nothing they could do. He traveled to Smaui, went to a health spa, did a 30-day supervised water fast, and he was completely cured. I know it sounds insane but he went back to his oncologist in London and the guy said he could find no traces of cancer. He had never seen anything like it in his career.

Maybe, maybe not. Who knows? I do believe that most forms of cancer are caused by an over accumulation of toxins within the body. The guys is genuine, so I didn't question his results. Kudos to him. Big Pharma blows.

I do know that there are more things in this universe that we don't know, thelan that we do know. That is one thing I know for sure.

I think a cancer cure would be very profitable FOREVER.....:intheclub:

Is there a big queue now at that health spa, if not, why not......?....🤣

I think your theory would have ended up with a lot of folk in jail, plus those in the 'cure' profession would be pointing fingers......:whistling:

There are many medical conditions that are not curable, take Psoriasis for instance, it's only fairly recently that a vax has been developed to help out, not cure it.

Though there are those here that would suggest mingling with cows munching grass to cure it......🐮.............😂

The loonies on here that run down Pharma for trying to find cures to make us live longer are really spouting about them making money, so I would be interested to know if they went to work to make money, had a business to make money, of course they never, probably have commy leanings, or just envious......🤭
