A 32-year-old Pakistani man was arrested in Udon Thani on 20 September 2025 after allegedly attempting to sexually harass an 18-year-old autistic woman in her dormitory. The suspect, identified as Ahmed Waka, was also found to have entered Thailand illegally, raising further legal concerns.

The incident occurred at around 13:00, when police were alerted by the Rompho Thong radio centre to a foreign man committing indecent acts, at a dormitory room on Kanti Rak Alley, Nittayo Road. The victim, referred to as Ms A, lived with her mother, who was at work and reported that the man, renting the room opposite hers, had previously made her uncomfortable by staring and approaching her. On the day of the incident, Ahmed allegedly entered her room under the pretext of asking for laundry directions, hugged her and attempted inappropriate contact.

The dormitory caretaker, 35-year-old Ms Bow, confirmed that Ahmed had been renting a room for less than a month, claiming to live with a Thai woman he called his girlfriend, who denied the relationship when contacted by police. She stated he was only a friend and that his passport was not with her, as claimed by the suspect.

Police, led by R.T.T. Preeda Misatham from the Udon Thani Tourist Police, investigated the suspect’s background. Records indicated that Ahmed had previously travelled to Thailand two years ago and then to Malaysia, but had no formal entry records since. Authorities believe he may have entered Thailand through illegal channels. Ahmed denied the allegations of sexual harassment.

Ahmed was formally charged with illegal entry and will face further investigation regarding the sexual harassment allegation. The case highlights ongoing concerns about foreign nationals entering Thailand without proper documentation and the vulnerability of residents in shared accommodations.

Key Takeaways

• Ahmed Waka, 32, was arrested in Udon Thani for allegedly harassing an autistic woman.
