It's a bit like AI responses, no guarantee they are truthful.

Google shows AI response may contain errors in the fine print below the response.

Cannot rely on it for absolute truth.

Look at number of times something is added with the comment ' citation needed'.

Encyclopaedia Britannica it is not.

Shall I explain? In simple terms, all authoritarian regimes, of whatever colour, need to identify an internal enemy against which to mobilise their supporters. Hitler had European Jewry, Stalin the Kulaks, Mussolini and Franco the communists. MAGA seems to have identified "the left".

 

As for my philosophy: well there is a well known scene in Bob Fosse's film "Cabaret". A crowd in a sun dappled Bavarian beer garden join a Hitler Youth boy in enthusiastically singing the anthem "The Future Belongs to Us!"; but in the crowd one elderly man holds back, obviously seeing where it will all lead. Perhaps fanciful, but I identity with that man.

Sadly the younger generation only really have the internet to find information, and that information can be very biased one way or the other.

Maybe 10 years ago I was working in a hospital and a clinician who had a master's degree asked me "Are there still libraries?".

I'm guessing a lot of young people might have the same question having no experience of libraries.

However I think all hope is not lost I was at Kinokuniya (it's a bookstore, some here will not know of it) the other day and there were lots of kids sitting on the floor among the bookshelves, lost in books. So smart kids still read.

The Ebook I am currently reading is called Joker One and is about a US 2/4 Marine regiment and his company of men in the USA and their subsequent deployment to Iraq in 2014. 

 

I confess that I had to go to Calibre to get the authors name, Donovan Campbell, as I have about 6 or 7,xxx authors in my Ebook library, and I cannot remember every authors name.
