Bangkok police arrested a husband and wife along with two accomplices for illegally producing and selling cannabis and kratom-based products in the Thonburi area. The raid, conducted on 23 September 2025 under a Thonburi Criminal Court search warrant, uncovered significant quantities of the substances and processing equipment. The suspects admitted to selling cannabis and kratom products for around three years.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Pol Lt Gen Siam Boonsom, along with senior officers including Pol Maj Gen Pallop Aremmla and Pol Col Santi Kornkasem, ordered the operation. Officers from Division of Special Investigation (DSI) teams 1 and 4 executed the warrant at a house on Pracha Uthit 41, Bang Mod, Thung Khru district, at about 14.30. Four suspects were detained: Mr Korakiat, 30, Ms Angwara, 37, Mr Thanadol, 27 and Ms Kanjana, 29.

The search uncovered extensive evidence. Police seized 25 one-litre bottles of kratom syrup mixed with fruit flavouring, 20 one-litre bottles of kratom syrup mixed with cough medicine branded Alergyne and one additional bottle of the same cough medicine. Cannabis was found in multiple forms: 124 compressed bars stamped “MARVEL” weighing 12.4kg, 49 bars stamped “OB” with a five-pointed star weighing 9.8kg, four cylindrical bars weighing 3.1kg, and other compressed forms totalling several kilograms. Officers also seized cannabis buds weighing 1.7kg, 30kg of stems and leaves in 15 bags and further quantities totalling more than 20kg. Processing equipment included a 15kg gas cylinder, a gas stove and a stainless-steel pot used to prepare kratom syrup.

Investigators reported that a QR code linked to Ms Kanjana’s bank account was displayed inside the house, near storage containers of kratom syrup. Mr Korakiat admitted running the operation with his wife, Ms Angwara, who arranged purchases of cannabis and kratom. Mr Thanadol prepared and flavoured the kratom drinks, while Ms Kanjana assisted in retail sales.

Police confirmed that the suspects had been selling cannabis sourced from farms in northern provinces and kratom leaves purchased from suppliers in Suksawat Soi 30. The group shared profits to support household expenses. Although Mr Korakiat presented a licence for processing controlled herbal plants, officers found it expired on 31 December 2024.

The accused face charges of producing and selling food products containing kratom without authorisation and violating laws governing controlled herbal plants. They were transferred to Rat Burana Police Station for further legal proceedings.
