Refrigerators

Planning to buy a new fridge for my outdoor kitchen as current 13yo mitsubishi has got enough sun to look unpleasant. Noticed that Samsung fridges of comparable size (aroind 14cbft) are around half the price of mitsubishi ones (or even less)

Wonder if there is something fundamentally wrong with them as they are so much cheaper - or mutsi just riding on their reputation. Any experiences on the matter would be welcome to help my decision

Samsung inverter fridges don't last very long (6 years then dead).

LG inverter fridges are worse (4 years)

That is a very general statement. How many of those did you buy to test?

One of each,

Now I'm waiting for a 9Q Hisense to be delivered.

Also had a Haier chest freezer, broke after 3 years.

Make sure you are comparing like-for-like i.e. inverter type vs non-inverter.

Both inverter. Wonder if can even get the larger ones with thermostat control any more

One like this can get for 7500.

Comparable mitsu more than double the price so wonder what technical differences they actually have.

Look just for an "Inverter"

I know they use a bit less electricity. How about long term reliability and repairs?

Might not even have ones without inverter control any more.

I bought a second hand Sanyo freezer. I swear that thing is 30 years old and still doing its job.

We had a very old freezer here,Samsung i believe.Well over 20 years old but the door started to look bad and the rubbers got very hard.

Decided to buy a new one and gave the old one to a neighbor,he found another door, put new rubbers on that and painted the whole fridge.

Runs and looks like new.

I'm not an electrician, but our Samsung works for 6  years now

Ok, I thought so. You were just unlucky. The statement that those brands (usually)  break down after a short period is therefore not valid.
