So, the TIB (Thai Immigration Bureau provides the same function in Thailand as ICE provides in America.
The difference? Thai cities and Thai political parties haven't opened their doors to millions of illegal oversayers.  Why?  The government allows the TIB to do their job and to manage immigration and to kick out illegals and overstayers.  

So are you one of those people who feels that the Thai Immigration Bureau are within their rights to round up and deport illegals and overstayers, but it's not Ok for the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement to round up and deport illegals and ovestayers in America? 
 

Really I can't fathom how anyone living here on a Thai visa can be Ok with Thai Immigration doing their job while slamming US Immigration and Customs Enforcement from doing theirs?  For those who feel that way: How do you rationalize those hypocritical conflicting views?

Personally I believe it should be illegal for Federal agents and police to cover their faces.  The US is drifting very totalitarians.  The look now is similar to far-right police in places like Argentina's SIDE (Secretaría de Inteligencia del Estado), Peron's Triple A death squads (Alianza Anticomunista Argentina), Chili's DINA (Dirección de Inteligencia Nacional) or Pinochet's Gestapo, and other right-wing secret police set up in Latin America with the help of the US during the 1970s and 80s.  The similarities are becoming a little too uncomfortable imho.  Here we have balaclava clad semi-secret police black bagging people on the street and not just limited to illegal aliens, but also the occasional US citizen.  That's f'ed up.

I'm admittedly conservative like most old school Lefties, but I don't like what I'm seeing in the way of militarize police in the United States.  Perhaps I shouldn't care as I live here, but I'm still a voting US citizen and I do care.  I don't like the illegal immigration, but nor do I like the militarized, balaclava-clad cops.  That's just too close to what existed in Latin American within my early adult lifetime.

Yeah - they provide the same services.  The only difference is that illegal immigration has never been allowed to get completely out of hand like in the US.  If it ever does, my guess is that their approach would look a lot alike.

Police in Europe cover their faces for safety and operational reasons, such as protecting their identity and that of their families from threats like revenge and doxing, preventing identification by criminals and the public, and for protection against environmental factors like cold or physical injury from debris. Face coverings are generally used by specialized units during high-risk operations, rather than by standard patrol officers.
