Since forever.  Especially when a degree can cost $500K.

If it's not going to increase their earning capacity, they should just watch Tik Tok and YouTube for free.

Read their mission statement, it is not in there.

One more good reason to quit funding them and using tax money for student loans.

What might the primary goal be?

So who's smarter?  I'll bet it's not someone with a $500K Gender Studies degree

Agree. $500k would get you into entrance exam of Trump University!

Read their mission statement.

Universities like Harvard/Cambridge/Oxford etc. have all collectively lost their minds with professors more interested in social engineering than their own topic of expertise.

But I got my degree from Texas A&M that qualified me for a career that put me in the top few percentages of salaries.  And being in state, my degree cost peanuts.  I could pay for my entire 4 year degree with half of my first year's salary.  That ROI beats the crap out of a Harvard degree.

So who's smarter?  I'll bet it's not someone with a $500K Gender Studies degree.

The Dept. of education posts reports on how much graduates of various Colleges and Universities earn after 10 years. They only post figures for students who receive financial aid. Probably this is to weed out students who come from wealthy backgrounds. At a University like Harvard there are lots of them. The average cost is what the student pays that financial aid doesn't cover. A Harvard education looks like a pretty good investment to me.

Anyway here are the figures for Texas A&M and Harvard

Sure...  Harvard is $17K a year.  From your own post:  They only post figures for students who receive financial aid.  How many of them qualify for financial aid?

TAMU.jpg.b02fd6dfc99a430254533be986eb0247.jpg

Can you imagine paying $83K a year, then find out your kid is taking classes in “Queer Ethnography” and “RuPaulitics"  toward a degree in Women, Gender, and Sexuality?

Edit:  And I would add that TAMU San Antonio is a satellite campus.  It's where they send their kids if they want to live at home in San Antonio.  The big enchilada is in College Station.

How do people rack up hundreds of thousands of debt at $17k a year?

Let the universities guarantee their own loans.

What kind of career does that prepare them for?

How to announce to the world you were trained, not educated, without realizing it.

There's a thing called google which could actually help you answer the question of "How many of them qualify for financial aid?"

The answer is 55%

https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2025/03/harvard-expands-financial-aid/

But thanks for pointing out that I had posted information about that satellite campus. Here is the information about Texas A&M at College Station

That's because the Ivy League mission statements are geared toward the Trust Fund Babies that don't have to worry about make a living.

It's just plain mean to let in normal people that do have to worry about paying back their student loans.  Just so they fulfill some kind of diversity goals.

Then they publish statistics that claim their graduates make a buttload of money.  Of course they do.  The graduates working at Daddy's company skew those statistics all to hell...  Normal graduates with "Women's Studies" degrees are qualified to be Starbucks baristas.

That may be true, but they are literate and able to consider complex topics, unlike Dear Leader and his illiterates.

Common Sense was never a attribute with the Left. "What is a women".

Ai overview:

"There is no single "new definition of woman," as different institutions and authorities hold contrasting views: some dictionaries now include transgender women, such as Cambridge Dictionary, while some recent legal rulings, like the UK Supreme Court's, define a woman by biological sex, according to BBC News and AP News. These divergent definitions reflect ongoing debates about gender identity versus biological sex in law, society, and public discourse, as seen in policy statements from the White House and shifts in dictionary definitions, notes Forbes".

If you're wondering why Trump's taking our tax dollars back from Harvard, here's one excellent reason:

Harvard University has recently hired a visiting professor in the Women, Gender, and Sexuality department whose alter ego is a drag queen who goes by the name of “LaWhore Vagistan.”

The department announced in July it is bringing on Kareem Khubchandani to teach classes on “Queer Ethnography” and “RuPaulitics: Drag, Race, and Desire.” Khubchandani has an extensive career in drag queen performance and is committed to bringing “the nightclub to the classroom, and vice versa, teaching critical race, postcolonial, and gender theory through lipsync and lecture.”

WTF?   Our tax dollars are supporting this?

Your 'tax dollars' don't support any of this. It does however support some valuable research and innovation. Some of which are:-

  • The discovery of insulin.
  • The invention of baking powder.
  • The smallpox Vaccine
  • Public demonstration and acceptance of anesthesia
  • Work on Puerperal Fever
  • Pioneering work on insect-borne disease transmission
  • Electrocardiograph
  • Heart Valve Surgery
  • Electrical Communication : (Dependable oscillators for radio and telephones)
  • Robotic Mobility Devices : (For stroke survivors)
  • The portable operating room SurgiBox
  • The AI-powered dental diagnostics platform Overjet.
  • MethaneSAT for greenhouse gas monitoring.
  • The innovative plant-based meat technology by Tender Food.
  • Bounce Imaging camera for rescue operations.
  • The soft robot developed by researchers, and lab-on-a-chip technology for microbiome research.
  • The smart delivery technology by Vaxess
  • The discovery of a likely link between the Epstein-Barr virus and multiple sclerosis.

But yeah, you just cherry pick the one YOU don't like to make it sound like that's all the place does.

Wouldn't they have more money for those worthy endeavors if they weren't paying for queer ethnology classes?

Or did you never get the "guns or butter" lecture?

NYP opinion  A nail on the head moment , shirking & jerking went far far way far at promoting woke initiatives to the corporate world .

"The real lesson of Vagistan’s class has nothing to do with drag, nightlife or globalization: It reinforces that it was a grave mistake to allow a generation of race and gender studies graduates to export their campus culture to the corporate world over the last decade".
