Food prepared by some people in all countries is either healthy or unhealthy. Thai food can be very healthy if prepared right. I've eaten Thai food hundreds of times in the US that has more quality control than here, along with many restaurants all over Thailand and by family and friends. It's the cook and not the food.

Its terrible there , everyone's really horrible, ex-pats and locals . Try somewhere else  Vietnam is better

  • Do yourself a favor and take care of your mental health before relocating. Thailand is not a good place to be unwell. Just some friendly advice.

You have never been there. You don't know anything apart from 3rd hand comments.

Which are a lot more valid than a known exxagerator. AGAIN seeing you keep missing my point. All major cities have much the same things, especially within a particular country.

Thai food can be high in fat and sugar, particularly in restaurant-prepared dishes and street food. Many popular dishes contain significant amounts of sugar, often hidden in sauces like fish sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sweetened curries. For example, a single serving of pad Thai contains 8.3 grams of sugar and 684mg of sodium, while coconut milk-based curries and desserts like Kanom Krok and Thai Flan are high in both fat and sugar. The use of coconut milk, palm sugar, and added sugars in sauces contributes to the high calorie and fat content of many Thai dishes.

Fried items such as spring rolls, fried wontons, and tempura are also high in unhealthy fats due to deep-frying. Additionally, restaurant versions of dishes are often prepared with excessive oil and sugar, especially in tourist areas and food stalls, which can increase calorie density and contribute to health concerns like obesity and high blood pressure. Even some traditionally healthy dishes, like tom yum soup, can be high in salt and fish sauce, which adds to the overall sodium intake

Please don't try to educate someone that's been doing this all his life. Anyone can post things they look up. Others already know. Everything you can ever say I knew when I first started working out at 17, and further learned the years after.

You don't have a point. Just arguing out of boredom.

As a old British guy recently said to me in response at Nicky's restaurant in Soi Bukhao when I told him I had some friendly advice "think of your wife back in the UK " I said to him when I saw him dining with what looked like a young lady in her early twenties

"I don't need your advice pal !! He snapped

Not does anyone else.

You are not Thai and have not been a chef. Most Thai dishes are fatty or high in sugar.

No, you can't understand what I've been saying, and are just replying to argue.

Home cooking is not the same as eating out.

But you are wrong on everything.

I have cooked all of my life, learning from my mom, dad, wife and friends, along with watching many shows and having a large amount of cookbooks. Again, seeing you're missing this. It all depends on the cook, and what they put into the food. Thai food can be very healthy.

No, actually I've been spot on. It's your incessant arguing with little experience that's been the crux of this conversation.

Any food can be healthy. Most cooked food that is sold is not.

Do you actually ever really leave your hotels? Where do you think restaurant chefs come from? You can get as good restaurant food as you can get at any home.

You have never been to Chiang Mai. You didn't know Thai food is mostly fatty or high in sugar. You're a troll.

I've eaten in a 1000 Thai restaurants. Most dishes are high in fat or sugar. Fact.

Have you been to every city in every country to know this? And yes, any dish can be prepared in a healthy or healthier manner. Even some fried foods, but by and large fried foods should only be eaten very sparingly.

What you're missing is that I know a lot more about healthy food then you ever will, and your replies have shown this for years, in all of your usernames.

You have not eaten in a 1000 Thai restaurants. That is yet another exaggeration. I didn't say most Thai dishes weren't unhealthy. I said they can be healthy.

I'm talking about Thai food.

Yes, and some actually already know because it's what they've done. Not needing to google.

I have eaten in a 100 in the last 9 months. Easily a 1000 over 25 years.

Everybody knows excess fat and sugar is bad. We knew that 40 years ago.

You claimed market food was healthy. Most of the cooked stuff is not. The only healthy stuff is fruit and veges.

Just now, Harrisfan said:

No, not everyone knows, as they just like to eat. The information is out there, but many either don't care or don't change their habits. And yes, many of us knew 40 years ago, so we don't need your relies.

Which means market food is generally healthy. Not all of any foods are healthy anywhere. That''s called having a choice. You can't answer for anyone, because they eat what they want because they want to. People aho want to eat healthy have researched.

You don't eat raw food in markets. A lot of the raw stuff is sprayed with chemicals and fish is often dodgy.
