A Norwegian national, Berg Robin Grande, has been deported from Hanoi following an incident where he vandalized a car under the influence of cannabis. On the night of September 12, Grande punched and shattered a parked car's window on Dang Van Ngu Street in Dong Da Ward, claiming he was searching for his mother. He was subsequently arrested, with a rapid test revealing cannabis usage.

Authorities reported that Grande did not steal anything from the vehicle but caused significant damage. Upon interrogation, Grande explained through an interpreter that he had been traveling from central Vietnam to Hanoi. During his stay, he consumed drugs offered by acquaintances, leading to the erratic behavior.

The incident prompted the Dong Da Ward Police, in collaboration with the Hanoi Immigration Management Department, to issue a deportation order. This decision was based on the property damage caused and his cannabis consumption. The case highlights concerns about the impact of drug use on public order and safety in the city.

In response to the situation, local residents expressed relief at the swift handling of the case. The authorities' actions underscore their commitment to maintaining public safety and legal adherence. Experts suggest this case serves as a warning to travelers about the strict regulations concerning drug use in Vietnam.

Looking ahead, Hanoi's authorities may consider further measures to prevent similar incidents, possibly increasing awareness campaigns regarding drug laws for foreigners. The community and law enforcement are expected to remain vigilant to ensure such acts do not disrupt the city's peace and order.

Key Takeaways

  • A Norwegian man deported from Hanoi after vandalism while high on cannabis.
  • Incident highlights strict enforcement of drug laws in Vietnam.
  • Further awareness measures may be implemented for foreign visitors.

I do hope the UK Home Secretary is reading this, because that is how you deal with aliens who step out of line.

I bet he'd hoped that he was going  to be 'disciplined' by the officer on the right of the picture...

Maybe Thailand could also learn lessons on how to sort out Tourists

misbehaving  by deporting them instead of being scared of up setting them

More worried about making money 💰 than the image of tourists causing problems

Take note Thailand - you should do the same when foreigners high on cannabis cause vandalism!

Shouldnt be any difference alcohol or cannabis, and I think there is not.

In Thailand it seems to be more mental cases, than Vietnam, but Thailand do have more volume and more red light party districts than any other Asian countries, so it is just a natural phenomenon they attracts more of those on the edge already
