Yep, but it's not only in so-called Health Care facilities

...

An official in California’s Yolo County said last month that residents were advised to wear masks indoors because of COVID-19.

“Based on current wastewater levels of the virus that causes COVID-19, I recommend that everybody in West Sacramento wear a mask when they are around others in indoor public spaces,” Aimee Sisson, the Yolo County health officer, said in the statement.

The most recent data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show that the rates of positive tests and emergency department visits across the United States are continuing to fall.

But on the underlying point:

It's pretty common sense that if you're going to mask anywhere, medical settings are among the best places to start in times when COVID was much circulating. You don't want patients spreading infection to others. And you sure don't want the doctors and nurses getting sick from the patients.

Face mask effectiveness: What science knows now

June 30, 2024

"In an interview for 60 Minutes, CBS News chief medical correspondent Dr. Jon LaPook posed that question to Linsey Marr, a Virginia Tech university professor specializing in aerosol science.

"They are very helpful in reducing the chances that the person will get COVID because it's reducing the amount of virus that you would inhale from the air around you," Marr said about masks.

No mask is 100% effective. An N95, for example, is named as such because it is at least 95% efficient at blocking airborne particles when used properly. But even if a mask has an 80% efficiency, Marr said, it still offers meaningful protection.

"That greatly reduces the chance that I'm going to become infected," Marr said."

What you have to understand is The Controllers will never let go of the mask theatrics.

It worked too well during the test run of 20-23ish.

Now they are just mocking the people to see who are the dummies.

Science went somewhat pear-shaped (read propagandised, monetized, politicized and generally corrupt) commencing March 2020.  So you have to travel back in time to the olden days of 2017 to find some scientific research conducted on this matter that didn't have a political or partisan bias from the outset.  UNSW research questions efficacy of face masks

Hospital infection control guidelines worldwide have long recommended surgical masks for infections spread by droplets, but UNSW research challenges that approach.

"The longstanding belief that a surgical mask provides adequate protection against infections spread by droplets has been turned upside down by new research that finds respirators do a better job.

UNSW Professor of Infectious Disease Epidemiology and PLuS Alliance Fellow Raina MacIntyre and her team have conducted the largest body of work internationally on masks and respirators, which was a finalist for the 2017 Eureka Prize in Infectious Diseases.

Hospital infection control guidelines worldwide recommend surgical masks for infections spread by droplets, such as influenza, which currently has Australia’s health system under huge pressure.

Professor MacIntyre and team tested the evidence for such guidelines. using data from two large randomised controlled trials involving 3591 subjects in Beijing, China.

The study, published in Influenza and Other Respiratory Viruses and available online, failed to show protection by surgical masks.

“We showed that even for infections spread by droplets, respirators protect better,” Professor MacIntyre said.

Surgical masks are loose fitting, disposable masks that cover the mouth and nose, while respirators are designed to fit closer to the face and to filter 95% of airborne particles.

No, the article you cited does NOT question the efficacy of face masks... Read what it says!

I don't know what you think your cited source is saying... But their message in the article you posted is what mainsteam science back then and even today says -- that being that respirator masks like N95s are more effective than typical drugstore face mask types.

From the article you cited:

""The longstanding belief that a surgical mask provides adequate protection against infections spread by droplets has been turned upside down by new research that finds respirators do a better job.

We showed that even for infections spread by droplets, respirators protect better,” Professor MacIntyre said.

DUH!!!

But thanks for posting some accurate information, even though you apparently didn't understand the actual message you were delivering!

MERS has a roughly 35% morbidity rate. I bet that if that crap (or God forbid, something even deadlier) appeared in their country/city/town/hood, the mask deniers will happily wear chin diapers.

I can intellectually distinguish between aerosol/airborne and droplets. N95 or better is effective enough to warrant its mandatory use in public in a situation that poses the risk of spiraling out of control. Those who refuse need to be temporarily interned in camps like Oz did to refugees. Nauru sounds good because they are now out of phosphorus to sell and need a new revenue stream. We can pay for it garnishing the wages of the involuntary campers.

Here we go again. Blame it on the naughty virus. Keep the mythical virus in the mind's eye.

Dear me! I thought Kennedy was gonna sort out the complicit and compromised CDC?

No wonder they waited for Kary to die (August 2019), before unleashing their covid nonsense on the world.

But to masks. Obviously they will stop particles of undesirables in they are large enough to not pass through the tiny holes on the mast. Saw dust from the  wood yard being one. But aren't viruses very small. If a million of them were clustered together, we still might not be able to see them.

Dr Vernon Coleman has a collection of over 40 mask studies on his web site. Well worth a look for anyone tempted to don one. https://www.vernoncoleman.com/main.htm

You mean  Vernon Coleman the quack and conspiracy theorist?

Vernon Coleman

"Vernon Edward Coleman (born 1946) is an English conspiracy theorist and writer, who writes on topics related to human health, politics and animal welfare. He was formerly a general practitioner (GP) and newspaper columnist. Coleman's medical claims have been widely discredited and described as pseudoscientific conspiracy theories.

...

He relinquished his medical licence in March 2016 and is no longer registered or licensed to practice as a GP.

...

Coleman's self-published books and blog have been reported as a major source of misinformation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, cancer, HIV/AIDS, vaccines and human health."

But, I do understand your affection and affinity for him,  considering that birds of a feather tend to flock together.

If it's a mythical virus, why have so many died directly from it? Another thing, seeing everyone on earth besides a few tribes and those on North Sentinel Island have come into contact with Covid, bu why are people still dying, as it isn't newborns but all ages? Of course as people get older, comorbidities can take out some that were in contact before and it didn't hurt them then but did now. but again, it's not just older people with existing conditions. That would mean it's still non vaxxers dying, if they were to add up the stats.

I will not wear a mask to try to keep myself from contracting a disease.

I will, however, wear one if I am sick and do not want to spread my illness to your grandmother or child.

It is indeed a myth Fred Sir.

I've no knowledge of anyone dying from a virus. Any virus; any time.

It comes as a shock to many, when it is pointed out that (a) a virus has never been isolated, purified and shown to exist. And (b) Contagion is something of a red-herring.

People die, because the death of cells and tissues, cannot be replaced at the same rate. Of course, one can be run over by a steamroller; but you were talking old age.

Shove it. Enough already. People can wear them if they want (and I’ll do so when flying mainly for humidity) but stop telling people what to do. Covid had more of a detrimental effect on society with lockdowns, isolation and whatnot than the actual disease itself. The aged, sick and silly can wear and cocoon themselves away if they so wish, but leave the rest of the world alone to live.

There is proof that millions have died from viruses, so I'm not sure who's opinion you're speaking of.Cells constantly die, and are replaced by new ones. Some things enter the body and wreak havoc with those cells, and have them deteriorate at a rate faster than the body can repair itself.
